Misaki stood outside the door to Kokoro's house, fear and anticipation building in her stomach. It wasn't the first time she had visited and it almost certainly wouldn't be the last, but she couldn't help but worry when all she had received as a form of invitation was an ominously short text message.

pleas egod come t kokros im starting to wonder if im theo nly sane pesron alive

Taking a few deep breaths, she knocked on the door, only to find it open. The shrieks coming from the room at the end of the hallway should have prepared her for the scene of chaos spread out before her, but they didn't.

Arisa was screeching into a pillow, Kokoro was spinning in a circle while Moca helped her drape yarn about herself like a cocoon and Hina was making the longest scarf Misaki had ever seen, bright green and trailing across the room to the point that she had almost tripped over it coming through the door.

"What."

Hina looked up from her neon green pile and positively beamed at the sight. "Misaki! Misaki!! You should knit one too so we can match!"

Arisa's shoulders sagged with relief and she stopped screaming. "Thank hell you're here," she began before noticing Kokoro and Moca and flopping back onto the cushion defeatedly.

Kokoro spun around with such force that most of the pair's hard wrapping work came undone.

"Misaki! How do you like my jumper? Moca worked really hard to make it with me!"

The silver-haired girl gave a lazy wave from the floor and went back to her task of trying to tie as much wool to Arisa's ankles as she could without being kicked.

"What." repeated Misaki, louder this time.

"They're trying to.. make a a sweater," explained Arisa, looking more pained than she'd ever seemed before. "But they got bored and decided that THIS--" she gestured to the many layers of woolen cocoon "--was more efficient."

"And it is, look!" explained Kokoro, before spinning around in a circle as if that would help anything. Arisa kicked Moca in the forehead.

"Worth it."

"Shut up!"

Misaki blinked slowly as if that would help her process what was happening, before making her way to the other side of Arisa on the sofa.

"Do any of you actually know how to knit?"

There was silence from all sides. Eventually, Hina spoke up. "I do! You kinda just.. wrap that around there and PHWOOM then you nyoom and scrritch-- and that's a stitch!"

Silence again.

"W... would you like me to teach you?"

Arisa sort of nodded defeatedly from the corner, and that was all the confirmation Misaki needed.

Almost half an hour later and they had gotten absolutely nowhere.

Kokoro had once more given up and was attempting to knit with her fingers instead of the selection of knitting needles, to no avail. Moca had gone around the room to collect all the balls of yarn Kokoro had splurged on and made a makeshift nest of them which was only a little painful to look at.

Hina had no need to pay any attention since she had picked it up so quickly, and was instead making her fourth scarf ("I'm making matching ones for all of us! You'd better wear them to school!")

The only one to pay any attention at all was Arisa.

"And so you bring that--"

"I don't need your help!" exclaimed Arisa. A few seconds passed.
