I wait outside the huge college deemed 'Alexander Hamletton's College of Physics and Evaluation' for my dear friend Marquis de Lafayette, the very dear man who helped me meet my profound love Elizabeth Schuyler.

I'm lost in my thoughts waiting for Laf. Elizabeth dances around in my mind, her sweet voice echoing dear songs and letters to me -- then I hear a particular voice say, "Hey, my boy!"

I spin around and my eyes widen. "Laf! I can't believe you got into the same college!" I hugged him tightly. "Ah, well," Laf chuckled profusely in his ornate accent, "I can't believe it either. You must thank Elizabeth for recommending this college for me. What a sweetheart." Laf pushes me off of him. My arms fall back. I check my watch. 8:28. As we talk for a bit, I finally say, "Well, Laf, I'd say it's about time to head to class." I check my watch. 8:30am. Only five minutes to get into Chemistry.

Laf checked his binder. His eyes sadly gazed towards my direction. "Mon ami," he said sadly. I walked towards him and saw something truly saddening-

Laf and I had NO classes together. It felt like my heart was shattered into a million pieces. Laf was my best friend. Not having him by my side, that was just--heartbreaking.

He put his binder back into his backpack. "Sorry.." he shrugged dejectedly. He ran into the building. I watched from an angle as he slowly shut the door. Suddenly arms grabbed me by my shoulders and wrapped around me. "Alex!" a sweet voice said.

I turned my head slowly. It was my dear Eliza. I hugged her and spun her around, "Oh, my Eliza!" I kissed her salmon cheeks, "I'm very happy to see you!"

Eliza smiled, her cheeks brightening up. "Look, Alex, we've all the same classes!" Suddenly I felt a little gloomy about this. But why? I loved Eliza. I should've been happy. I faked a smile, "That's great!"

Eliza kissed me on the cheek, "We better hurry to Chemistry!" She took me by the hand, pushed open the doors and lead me into the Chemistry room. She took a seat and motioned to the desk next to her, which I gladly filled in. Almost all seats were taken up, when suddenly the professor spoke.

"Good evening, class," the professor said with a slight smirk on his face. "I'm Professor Washington. It's very nice to meet you all." He nodded to the closed door. Suddenly the door opened. A boy with curly hair and salmon freckles shyly peeked through the classroom. I couldn't help but smile a bit. And blush.

Eliza turned to me and frowned a bit when she saw my blushing. Though I think she shrugged it off.

"Go on, lad, introduce yourself," Washington told the boy quietly. The boy looked up. His eyes were scintillating, like the sunshine's beams. "Hello," he smiled a bit. "I'm John Laurens. I'm..I'm nineteen and I'm..I- I do a lot of reading and writing. I'm happy to be here." John looked around for somewhere to sit. Though there were many places not filled in, he decided to sit next to me. I blushed profusely.

Suddenly he moved his desk a little closer, and whispered in my ear, "Can I borrow a pencil?"

I zoned out, the melody of his voice ringing softly in my ears, taking me away, when suddenly-

"Alexander Hamilton."

I recuperated. "Uh, yes sir?" I said. "Step up here. Now. Maybe you can teach the class," the professor stuck out his hand to reveal a fresh piece of chalk and a fresh chalkboard for me to write. I had no idea what he said, other than "The Revolutionary War was a war-"

I knew a bit about the Revolutionary War. Not much though, because when I wrote down "The British also had the difficult task of fighting the war while simultaneously retaining the allegiance of Loyalists-", Washington stopped me. "We're far past that point, Alex. And you know that. Since you've not been paying much attention, I sentence you to detention for 'zoning out' in class. You may return to your seat."

It's now the end of the day, and I'm getting set on going home. Suddenly a paper airplane flies over to me. But by who? I look around to see who could've flew it. John was walking away from me. It must've been him.

I unwrap the paper airplane. It reveals to be a letter from John.

It says:

"My dearest Alexander,

Though we've just met, I have felt a strange occurrence in myself. And I find it to be for you. I bade you adieu with this one letter:

I have deep altruism for you. I devote my life to you only if you accept me for who I am, what I believe in, and what I am. I am bisexual. But for whom, you may ask yourself? For you. My dearest Hamilton, I love you, and to convince my love to you I will have to inquire you to visit the college roof tomorrow. I bid you adieu, best of men and best of love to you and your dear Elizabeth. Although you may be in a relationship, I inquire you to alight that relationship with the maiden Elizabeth Schuyler.

Adieu,

John Laurens, 12.24.17XX"

I'm utterly shocked.

All I can think is, "Don't let Eliza see this letter."

I race home before Elizabeth can contact me. "Alex? ALEX!" she screamed my name as I ran to my dorm. "ALEX, STOP RUNNING AND ANSWER ME!" I felt her voice crack in sorrow. "WHY ARE YOU HIDING FROM ME?"
I soon stopped and saw Elizabeth stopped running after me. "Betsey," I said, out of breath. She was turned around, crying. I checked my bag. The letter wasn't there.

"Oh no," I whispered.

Elizabeth turned over and looked at me. She was soaked in tears. I just watched her, helplessly crying and walking towards me, limping with sadness.

I didn't run this time.

She got closer and closer, until finally close enough to say, "Why are you cheating on me?"
