"I'm not under a curse!I'm not!I'm NOT!" screamed Anabeth "Why me? They must have mixed me up with someone else. I am definitely not under a curse." Even though she tried to reassure herself, she didn't feel better. At that moment Anabeth felt like the world was turned upside down.
It was impossible to think in Anabeth's state, She was getting ravenous by now but there was no shop or restaurant in site. With this in mind,Anabeth stood up to try and find something to eat."Being trapped in a nightmare is bad enough, but I can't starve to death,"thought Anabeth to herself. So she started to search her surroundings, without much luck at first. After searching for hours, Anabeth finally came across an ancient, minuscule house. There was someone there. A small fire was visible through open window. She was finally getting somewhere."I'm not alone... There is a living human here too..."Whispered Anabeth to herself "It's not the end."
It felt like forever to get near the house. Both fear and excitement rushed around her body, she didn't have a clue what she had to say to the only person alive apart from Anabeth. She tried not to think about what is to happen in the next few minutes, it was a relief to be alive. It took Anabeth a lot of courage to knock on that door but she knew she had to in order to have a chance of surviving in this eerie night. Anabeth knocked very gently on the oak door-no answer. She knocked louder-still no answer. Finally after many tries without an answer Anabeth said rather loudly,"Please can you open the door.I am not here to cause trouble, I am here because I am seeking some advice and a little bit of help. Please I won't hurt you."With this, there was a sound of shuffling feet and the door knob twisted leading to an old man standing in the doorway.
For a minute, no one moved it felt like the world had stopped, not wanting to carry on. The man just stared at Anabeth without saying a thing. Many thoughts entered her head,"What should I do?Who is he?What am I doing?Run for your life."The thought of running was an option but something made her stay where she was.The silence was painful,Anabeth couldn't stand it anymore. She looked straight into the man's bright, blue eyes and ,trying to act confident, explained her situation:"Excuse me sir, I understand that you have better things to do but please can't you let me in.I am lost and I don't know where I am. Please."He said nothing for a moment, then replied to the anxious Anabeth,"You may come in but be quick."Anabeth said her thanks thanks and stepped inside the cramped cottage. When doing so, Anabeth thought that the man didn't sound English as his accent was different, but she didn't mind.
The smell of warm soup enveloped Anabeth straight away making her even hungrier. If the man was annoyed with Anabeth coming into his house, he didn't show it; his expression was dull and blank. After what seemed liked hours, Anabeth decided to break the silence: "Excuse me sir, please may I please know your name.If you don't mind of course." she asked that as politely as she could. Finally he changed his position so he was facing Anabeth. "My name is Vasilievich," standing up he carried on,"People call me Vasya. Are you hungry?" Anabeth nodded politely and answered,"That's a lovely name and thank you very much for helping me. Oh yes and my name is Anabeth."
With that he passed her the warm and filling soup.
