Brad stared down at his inked knuckles. For the 6th time that day. He had noticed that almost everyone in his new sixth form college had gotten rid of their ink marks already. He had seen about three other people that still had theirs. He blinked miserably at his still stained hands, he hated them. The way the ink ran obnoxiously from his knuckles to his finger tips. today had been shit. College was just a reminder that he couldn't do maths and he had no idea who or where his soulmate was. It was probably his biggest fear. What if his soulmate was rude, or worse. What if they hated his guts? He shook his head sharply, curls falling over his eyes. The thought of that outcome made him feel queezy.

He was taken away from his thoughts as the heavy thud of books being dropped onto the table next to him. He flinched slightly, he hadn't made any good friends yet, so he wasn't sure who could have chosen to sit with  him. Glancing up slightly, he saw a girl with plated red hair, slung lightly over her shoulder, a sullen look on her freckle covered face. Brad didn't know what to say. She didn't look like she wanted him to say anything anyway. But looks can be deceiving, because the stranger held out a hand and said in a thick Irish accent

"Hi. I'm Carlotta. I guess we should be friends seeing as you're alone and I'm avoiding half the people in this room."

Well this had never happened before. No one had ever randomly offered brad friendship. Like at all. He sat staring at her hand for a while. He noticed she too still had her ink marks. They were like the freckles on her face, dotted in small specks  all over her hand. Brad cautiously took the offered hand, shaking it lightly. Still a bit dazed, he ended the hand shake, quickly glancing at Carlotta's hand to see if she still had her ink. She did. And so did he. To be honest he wasn't as disappointed as he had expected to be. He wasn't sure Carlotta was his "type", he wasn't sure if he even had one to be Honest, even if  he did find her quite pretty. Maybe he should just drop the whole soulmate thing.  Although Brad noticed the Irish girl steal a quick glance her her own inked hand.

"Brad." The brunette suddenly said out of nowhere, startling Carlotta a bit, who was rearranging her books. She looked at him for a bit, confused look about her. "Oh. My name.. i thought I should tell you my name because you told me yours.. I know it was a bit delayed but-"

"So you can talk. I think I like you more when you talk." She said, quite simply, a friendly smile plastered on her face. Her voice was a bit softer than before. The two exchanged conversations throughout the lesson, occasionally slipping into a comfortable silence.

"So why were you sitting alone?" The red headed girl asked, eyes still on her paper, twirling her pencil around two of her fingers. The curly headed boy shrugged. "Don't really know anyone. Didn't fancy talking anyway" she nodded. "So this is totally okay for you to say no to, but you can definitely sit with me and my friends. They're all super sweet. You'd like them." Brad chewed his lip thoughtfully. "Alright. Tell me about them, I might have seen them around"
Carlotta smiled. "Well, there's Connor, he's lovely. Quite shy, but very cute as well." She winked before adding "you two would make a cute couple if I'm honest." Brads eyes widened. "What makes you think I'm gay? You've only just met me and-" he soon stopped talking because the look on Carlottas face told him there wasn't any point trying to deny it. "Carry on" he grumbled.

"There's also Hanna, she's really funny, and she does great little cartoons. She'll probably be drawing you within the first two minutes of meeting you." She smiled fondly when she spoke about her friends, that only made brad more excited to meet them.

"Last but certainly not least, there's Tristan. You'll like Tristan. He's a terrible flirt though. Terrible but effective if I'm honest." Carlotta laughed before leaning in closer to brad

"he also still has his ink."

-----------------------–------—-------–

Brad didn't like Tristan. He liked Connor. He liked Hanna (who actually did start drawing him through lunch, which brad thought was sweet) but he didn't like Tristan.
Carlotta did say that he was a flirt, but they boy wasn't just terrible. He was awful. They looks he kept giving the smaller boy, he would trail his eyes down a lot further than brad had liked, and very so often he would bite his bottom lip. Making the occasional snide comment. At one point he actually took one of Brads curls in his hand and twirled it round his finger. The smaller boy found the constant attention from Tristan annoying. But he couldn't help but wonder what would happen if the older boy actually touched his skin. Would the ink finally disappear? Brad really hoped not. Tristan's ink mark was on the right side of his distinctive jaw bone, a sharp pattern that made his jaw look even more Boney than it was. Brad had to admit, the boy was gorgeous, and he'd be lying to say that he didn't feel a little fuzzy when the boy sent a sneaky wink in his direction.

"Done!" Hanna, who hadn't spoken since she'd introduced herself to Brad, exclaimed, making everyone jump. "It's kinda rushed but I liked it. It's very you, Brandon" she smiled, handing Brad a piece of paper.
"Brad" Carlotta corrected her.
"Oh shit sorry! Scatter brain." Brad already liked her, and he smiled fondly and told her the cartoon was brilliant. She had her own unique way of drawing and brad thought it was really cool. Whilst everyone complemented the drawing, Tristan peered over the brunette's shoulder. "It's amazing Han, but it doesn't do justice for that ass" the blonde smirked in a devilish way. Brad gasped whilst everyone else took turns in swatting Tristan's arm.
"Tristan Oliver Vance Evans!! He is far too nice for you to get your dirty hands on!" Hanna shrieked putting two hands over Brads ears. "Hang on what makes you think I'm so p-" he began, only to be cut off by Connor's voice "Tristan you can't just say things like that to people like brad!!! They're very fragile people so you-"
"Fragile!?!" The curly haired boys eyes widened.

"You're scaring him!!!" Carlotta scolded giving Tristan a hard glare. "Guys honestly I'm-"
"Poor baby! Don't worry we won't let the nasty man scare you" Hanna said, patting the confused boy on the back.
"You're all crazy and I'm embarrassed by you losers." Tristan sulked back into his chair and folded his arms.

. "There see, he's harmless really"
Connor smiled. Brad stared at everyone  in disbelief. "You do know that I'm not a virgin right?" He said flatly, causing Hanna to choke on her juice and Tristan to raise an eyebrow. Connor giggled slightly "dude no way, who would have thought? You're just so... bambi like" Brad was speechless. He was sat at college, with four people he'd never met before, discussing his purity and lack of virginity. After a few seconds of silence Tristan stood up.

"Right I'm going to photography. What have you got pretty boy?" He asked Brad, with a sly wink. The smaller boy blushed furiously before quietly
mumbling
"Photography.."
