It had been a full year since Sugar Rush was poisoned by King Candy, AKA Turbo, and all was peaceful again. Vanellope was the princess she rightfully was, though demanded to be called president. Everyone respected that and after the arcade closed and the avid gamers went home, Vanellope hopped out of her cart and met with the other racers.
"Hey, guys!" Vanellope greeted as always.
"Hi, Vanellope! How's it going, Vanellope? You wanna come over, Vanellope?" the other kids often asked her.
"Whoa, whoa, slow down," Vanellope stepped back from her fellow racers. "Guys, you don't have to kiss up to me. I'm just another racer like you all!"
"Well, yeah girl, but you're the president!" Snowanna chimed.
"Yeah, you should totally come over and hang out with us!" Candlehead added.
"I'll make you pie ala mode!" Jubileena cried.
"Guys, cool it, please!" Vanellope wished they would tone it down a bit. "Look, I'm the president, but I'm also a regular kid like you... With a slight problem, and I'm glad you all like me, but please no special treatment. Can ya respect that?"
The other racers eyed each other and decided to give her some space.
"Don't worry, Vanellope," a slimy, girly voice crawled into the glitch's ears. Everyone turned to see Taffyta Muttonfudge licking on a strawberry sucker as always. "I won't treat you any differently."
"Taffyta?" Vanellope came up to the platinum blonde girl. "Don't treat me any different, but show me some respect! It was cuz of my buddy Ralph that we're all still alive and not deprogrammed, ya know!"
"I know, but you're still a glitch." Taffyta spat.
Vanellope suddenly glitched then, like it sensed the cold insults Taffyta always would display.
Rancis Fluggerbutter stepped forward, looking cross. "You leave Vanellope alone, she never hurt you!"
Taffyta lightly cackled at the boy. "You would defend her, Rancis... Why don't you ask her out already?"
"Shut up!" Rancis snapped with blush in his cheeks.
Taffyta laughed and walked along.
"Taffyta, everyone else stopped calling me a glitch, why can't you?" Vanellope demanded with her hands on her hips.
"That's just how I am, Van... What a dumb name for such a dumb glitch." Taffyta teased.
Vanellope growled, wanting to go after her. Rancis grabbed her and pulled her back. "Just ignore her, Vanellope." Rancis tried to settle his secret crush.
"I can't help it!" Vanellope hissed. "She just drives me crazy! I never did anything to her too! Even before you all lost your memories and codes, she's been giving me nothin' but trouble! I remember when we were first developed, she was one of my bullies who beat me up all the time!"
"I kinda remember that..." Candlehead said, stepping forward. "Don't worry about her though, Vanellope. Why don't we all go to Tapper's and drown our sorrows in root beer together?"
Vanellope turned back at her with a smirk. "I would really like that, come on, gang!" she led the way outside of Sugar Rush into Game Central Station.
As predictable, Taffyta stayed behind. She didn't need all of them. Once they were all gone, she turned on her heels and dashed away to her home. All the Sugar Rush racers had homes that the gamers would never see, but they all had a theme. Taffyta lived in a giant strawberry and made sure no one else was home. Taffyta looked around and went into her bedroom, locked the door, and clicked on a wall that was a stalker shrine to Vanellope with vanilla and taffy scented candles.
"Oh, Vanellope..." Taffyta sighed with her hands together. "I hope someday you can forgive me... Someday, I'll work the courage to tell you... but for now, you are my punching bag... Just remember that I still love you..." she looked at the picture of Vanellope and kissed it as it tasted and smelled of vanilla, just like the real Vanellope von Schweetz.
