Park Jimin
—
Park Jimin believes that everyone and everything revolves around him.
People that he knows, people that he doesn't know, and everyone in between. They all follow a constant cycle in the same rotation, day after day, to please him. To listen to him.
After all, every teacher loves him. Every student praises him, wishing to be his friend. Jimin is at the top of the totem pole, and he knows it.
He gets away with everything: late assignments, skipping class, lying to friends — you name it. And of course, he has the best grades out of all the 2nd year class, and starts varsity in every sport he plays.
He lives in his own personal, perfect universe.
Until he met Y/N.
—;
Jimin winked at the blushing 1st year girl in front of him, who had offered to wrap athletic tape around his slightly injured wrist.
Class 2-4 — second year boys — were playing volleyball in gym class that day, and class 2-4 — second year girls — were playing on the court next to them.
The freshman wrapping his hand was none other than Do Rael, the prettiest girl in the 1st year class. She was an office aid that period, and came (of course) to watch Jimin play.
"Alright! Boys, girls, circle up over here." The gym couch, Mr. Shen, commanded the students. Rael finished wrapping Jimin's wrist, and he sent her a flirty smile. She smiled back, slowly letting go of his hand as she walked away.
Jimin jogged over to where his class was standing, smirking to himself. He knew Rael would be back for more...obscene reasons.
"Since many students are absent due to this sudden flu virus spreading, we're going to be conjoining the boys' and girls' gym classes for volleyball today. Luckily we have an even number of players, so..." Mr. Shen said thoughtfully, stopping mid-sentence.
"Well," he started again, "since not everyone knows how to play volleyball, why don't the people who know how to play stand over here for a second." Mr. Shen motioned to the right side of the gym.
Jimin was the first to walk over, taking confident strides towards the other side of the gym. He gave a side smile to Rael in the bleachers, and she blew him a kiss. He turned away without a reaction.
Ten other boys followed him, not quite as confident, but still prideful.
Lastly, one girl left the huddle.
"Y/N-ah!" The two boys next to Jimin said happily, smiling at the girl. She was roughly Y/H. Tall enough for a Korean player, I guess. Jimin thought. However, he still wasn't very impressed.
In volleyball, to be a hitter, you have to either be tall — or have one hell of a vertical. In other words; you have to be able to jump high. Jimin knew this.
He had been able to adjust himself well enough to jump with a vertical of about 42 inches, which is almost as high as men in the NBA can jump.
Jimin knew this as well.
Slightly judging the boys next to him, he decided to take a better look at this girl they were smiling so widely over.
When he did, the first thing he noticed was her hair.
Her hair was a beautiful H/C, and her eyes a gorgeous E/C, almost shining with pure happiness.
Tucking a strand of hair behind her ear, she waved to the boys, gingerly smiling.
"Hey Taehyung, Hoseok. Ready to get completely destroyed?" She teased, putting her hand up to her friend Taehyung's head, ruffling his hair.
"Yah! Hoseok and I have been playing volleyball for three years now, and that's not going to be taken for granted Y/N!" Taehyung said, sticking his tongue out in mocking.
"I know, Tae. I'm messing with you. Though you guys haven't seen my jump serve for a couple months." Y/N says, smirking at the two.
"Oh ho ho! Getting cocky, Y/N?" Hoseok says, laughing. She shakes her head, chuckling.
Mr. Shen walks over again, clapping his hands. "Okay! I want you twelve to line up on the back line over here," He commands.
When everyone gets lined up, Mr. Shen speaks again.
"I want Jimin and...Kanghyun up here."
Jimin and Kanghyun both walk up on either sides of Mr. Shen.
Kanghyun is Class 2-4's Vice President, while Jimin is — unsurprisingly — President.
"You two are team captains. Go ahead and pick." Mr. Shen says, walking back over to divide the other half of the class as well.
"You can take first pick," Jimin says, smirking. He already knew he was going to win.
"Alright. I want Hoseok." Kanghyun chooses, high-fiving Hoseok as he jogs over.
"Josung." Jimin picks. Josung is a libero on the boys' team, so he's skilled at defense.
"Taehyung." Kanghyun says, as Hoseok and Taehyung cheer 'yes!' They were a dynamic duo, best when working together. But Jimin did not regret separating them, he wanted some 'okay' competition.
"Hmm..." Jimin thoughtfully hummed, scanning the group.
"Not Y/N, not Y/N," Jimin saw Kanghyun mouthing in the corner of his eyes.
Jimin pointed.
"Y/N."
