Glitch

Part 1

Dear diary,

    It's been awhile since I have writen in this.

Ever since my mom disappeared, I havent written much.

I don't even know where to begin.

well, it's been two weeks since they came out with the new "chip of happiness"

You can't do anything without it. See if you don't get it implanted in your brain, you can't go see a doctor, go shopping, get a job, house anything. People are forced to get it. My dad, sister, and brother refuses to get it and so do I. See the thing is,is that my mother disagreed with us, and got the chip. but it glitched, and when she told them that she was still sad, still remembered bad memories and people who died, they took her to a special "doctors" appointment, and she never came back.  They told us she ran away, but she would never do that.

Well anyways got to go, bye talk to you later diary.

I put down the diary and hid it under my bed. That diary is when the chip just started.

It's 17 years later  2063, I am 17 years old.

I was forced to get the chip in when I was first born or else I was immediately killed. Harsh right? yeah. There is something that no one knows,  I am a glitch.

The people who have a messed up chip, who remember things, ask questions about it, and think about the chip or feel any sort of sadness, we are called a "glitch" 

If anyone knew about me, I would be taken away just like my mom and be killed. My bestfriend, Casey feels the same way, he has been my bestfriend since we were young. The chip is the only reason we met,

we were at school.

*Flash back*

"Mia, look that boy over there is crying! I found a glitch!" My friend lisa yelled pointing behind me.

"Lisa don't go and tell" I grabbed her wrist. "why? we were told if we find a glitch we have to tell immeditaly becauses Glitches are dangerous" Lisa looked at me confused and her eyes narrowed, her smile turned into a frown.

"Are you a glitch?" Lisa looked me in the eyes.

"NO! Lisa if I was a glitch I would be sad, I am not sad!" I yelled.

"I am telling on him" she ran away and disappeared through the school doors. I quickly jumped down from the monkey bars and ran to the boy.

"You have to go, my friend saw you crying, they are going to take you away" The boy looked up at me with his bright blue eyes, the white color of his eyes were now pink and red.

"what?! please go with me" He grabbed my hand before I could say anything and we ran into the woods.

"What's your name?" I asked as we stopped running and hid behind a tree.

"Ca-Casey" he looked down at our hands and his face went red, he quickly let go and rubbed his hand on his pants playing it cool.

See we feel emotions, we just don't remember sad things, so we are never continuously upset. If something makes you sad, the chip erases it from your mind.

"Maybe we should head home now" Caseys words brought me out of the thoughts.

"Yeah we should" I yawned and started to walk.

"So, um, I am confused. are you a glitch?" as we walked he rubbed his hand on the back of his neck.

"waht?" he caught me by surprise, the only people who ask that are the doctors.

"y-eah" I looked down scared he was gonna tell.

"Me to" I looked up at him and he smiled showing his teeth, the two front ones were missing causing me to laugh a little bit.

"Yeah I know everyone laughs, they are growing in!" he slightly pushed me causing me to stumble a little bit.

"It's cute though" I gave him a nice smile as we made it to the street.

"so I live right here, I can walk you to your house if you want?" He pointed to a big white house with christmas lights on it.

"No that's okay, I actaully live across the street, but two more houses down, see that big brown tan colored house with white lights strung on the house." I pointed a little bit to the right and smiled.

"Okay well have a nice night" He smiled and turned to walk away.

"Wait! whats your name?" He yelled causing me to look back at him.

"Mia" I smiled showing my teeth then turned away and walked to my house.

The sun was setting and it started to get dark, maybe my dad forgot about me? maybe he got so worried and upset that he doesn't even know who I am anymore.

I slowly opened the door.

"Mia!" I heard Lisas voice screech as she brought me into a hug.

"Where were you?" She let go and looked me in the eyes. I kept my mouth shut

"You were with a glitch! that boy!" Her eyes filled with anger as she pushed me aside and went to the door.

"If you were with him,  then- then we can't be friends anymore!" She slammed the door and walked out.

I just lost a bestfriend because I helped out a stupid boy! I turn around ready to storm into my room, but my dad stopped me.

"She will forget about you anyways, and you will forget about her" He smiled and walked into the kitchen.

"I wish I could forget about her" I mummbled under my breath and went to my room.

*End of flashback*

I got off my bed and walked downstairs greeting my dad with a smile.

"Hey honey what would you like for breakfast" He gave me a genuine smile before grabbing the eggs out of the fridge.

"eggs?" he asked before I could answer.

"No thanks, I got to go meet Casey at the bus stop for school" I smiled and grabbed my backpack off the kitchen table.

"Casey's in the bathroom" He set down a plate of eggs and pulled out a chair.

"Honey I have stuff to talk to you about" My dad pulled out a chair and sat in front of me.

I slowly sat down and plastered a smile on my face.

"what?" I heard footsteps behind me, and I quickly turned my head to see 3 tall buff men, in uniforms with guns by their side.

"Dad what's going on?" I turned my head back to my dad and looked him in the eyes.

"I'm sorry sweetie"
