Moving Too Fast

I️ rolled my eyes as I heard my loud ass alarm sounding off for me to go to school. I reached over to my nightstand & turned the switch off.

Just five more minutes I said to myself as I dozed back off to sleep...

BAM!!!
I jumped up to the sound of my mom swinging my door wide open about an hour after my alarm went off.

"SOLANA GET YOUR ASS UP FOR SCHOOL" she yelled at me. " Ever since you been skipping school to fuck with that fast ass little boy you've been slipping".

My mom was talking about my ex boyfriend Tevin ( Tev for short ). I️ broke up with him a few weeks ago because I️ caught him cheating on, me when I confronted him he beat on me like I️ was a nigga in the streets, luckily my mom was out of town at the time and my bruises faded by the time she got back. My mom still talks like we're still together I️ never told her that I️ stopped seeing him, I'd have to tell her the whole story and she probably wouldn't let me date until I was 40.

My mom didn't mind me having a boyfriend because I️m 17 but Tev gave her a bad vibe.. and her intuitions were correct he was no good. My dad doesn't even know I started dating because he's locked up and I wasn't gonna be the one to tell him.

" Ma I was just tired okay? " I said to her.

" Tired my ass you better be out this house & at school by the time I get to work... you're gonna have to catch the city bus I️ love you baby have a good day. "

That's black moms for you they'll curse you out & tell you they love you in the same breath.

" I️ love you too ma. "

She stormed off down the hallway I sat and listened until I️ heard the front door slam shut.

I hopped up & went into the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror and just looked at my facial features.

I used to be bullied in middle school because I was overweight. No one would talk to me and I couldn't get attention from dudes to save my life but when high school came that all changed. I started working out, wearing trendy clothes, and keeping up with my hair and nails. I started getting attention from everyone, every where i went people would turn heads. I even started getting attention from older dudes & trust I was NOT complaining.

No one could tell me shit from that point but I remain humble.

Remain humble.
I thought to myself. That's what my dad always told me when I was younger. Yeah I love my mom to death but I️ was a daddy's girl everyone knew it. My dad got locked up 5 years ago for knocking a nigga's jaw loose for playing with his money. He only has a year & some change left then he'll be out.

I smiled to myself but then I snapped back into reality I had to get my ass ready for school.

I turned the shower on and got the temperature nice & hot just like I like it. I stepped in the shower and began washing my body for about 15 minutes then I stepped out and dried off with my favorite pink towel.

I walked into my room and put on my favorite lotion & perfume.

I walked into my big closet. I had clothes & shoes that I never even wore. I decided to throw on something simple it was hot as hell outside and I didn't feel like getting super dressed up.
