Twas the Night Before Christmas

Created for a friend who has a crush on Tyki Mikk 

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse; The stockings were hung by- "

"May I ask my Lord why you are reading us a Christmas story?" you asked as the Earl put down the book

"My dear (your name), the children at Road's school were going on and on about this story. So I promised Road that I would read it for her" the Earl replied

"Alright, I guess continue" you said with a sigh

"Come on Earl! Keep reading!" Road said as she jumped into her father, Sheril's lap, causing him to hold a tissue to his nose to stop his nosebleed

"Alright Road" the Earl said as he picked the book back up

"Twas the night before Christmas, when all thro' the house. Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse. The stockings were hung by the chimney with care. In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there"

"Daddy? Who is St. Nicholas?" Road asked

"Santa Claus. A man who brings little kids like you presents" Sheril said causing Road to nod and turn her attention back to the Earl while you roll your eyes and stare into the burning fire in the fireplace. The only source of light in the room. The same light that the Earl was reading by.

"The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugar plums danced in their heads, And Mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap, had just settled down for a long winter's nap‍-"

"Are they dead?" you asked, your eyes never straying from the fire.

"No, Insanity they are not dead" The Earl said

"Don't call me that. I may be the Noah of Insanity but I have a name like everyone else" you replied with a huff

"Yes" a new voice said "and her name is (your name)

You looked away from the fire to see that Tyki had sat down next to you. Knowing that you loved him, he gently lifted you a bit and moved you so you were leaning against him.

You can feel the blood rushing to your cheeks as you stared into the fire. The Earl then once again cleared his throat and began to read

"When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter, I sprang from the bed to see what was the matter. Away to the window I flew like a flash, tore open the shutters, and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new fallen snow, gave the luster of mid-day to objects below"

Leaning against Tyki, your eyes slowly started to close. Sensing your tiredness, he wrapped his arms around you and held you close. Your head fell down against his chest, over his heart. The steady beating of his heart is soothing to your ears and your mind as well as your own heart

"When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer"

"Wow!" came Road's voice, but it sounded faint compared to the sound of Tyki's heart

As the Earl continued to read you felt yourself falling asleep. Nuzzling Tyki just the tiniest bit you let the sleep take over you.

"His eyes-how they twinkled! His dimples how merry. His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry"

Tyki looked down at you and smiled as he watched your chest rise and fall to the beating of his heart. Slowly leaning over he kisses your head then starts to gently stroke your hair

"He sprung to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle, and away they all flew, like the down of a thistle: But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight‍-"

"Happy Christmas to all" Tyki said as he kissed your head again "and to all....a good night"
