CHAPTER 1: This is How The Story Begins

What's with today?

She arrives to school late, tries to help a classmate pick up their pen and almost makes the girl scream bloody murder.

"Raven Elizabeth Chikara!" Her teacher roars, and Raven doesn't surpass a sigh linger in her throat. The woman with tinted glasses charges to her desk and glowers down at her. With her steel gaze, she focuses on Raven's nerves. Raven focuses on a piece of green food between the woman's barred teeth,

         Raven fiddles with her hands.

'Looks like the lunch menu's  broccoli today.'

"Y-Yes Ms. Sweet?" Raven squeaks out. Ms. Sweet's razor claws dig into the top of Raven's wooden desk.

"Look at you again, disrupting my class! Why I should-!"

As always, Ms. Sweet runs off into a long dialogue about Raven always causing havoc and the disadvantages of being a teacher always lands with trouble makers. Raven tunes the sound out and stares at the window. The wide frame bleeds with the morning sun, and blue paint stains the skies. Small huffs of white float through the paint. Raven wonders if the blue ever chips off.

There's a soft creak that scares Raven to sharply jolt. She looks at her classmate's hollow looks aimed her way, and no sound follows up. She sighs, but another creak rings in her ears.

Raven quickly turns towards the window, lunges out her seat, and screams.

A boy with pale skin grips the window's ledge and turns his head to look behind him. Raven opens her mouth to scream, but in her panicked state, she only finds it in herself to gape with wide eyes at the window and throws her hands up.

"M-Ms. Sweet! By the name of God there is someone out there who needs help!" Ms. Sweets comes to attention with a frown.

"Trouble?" She muses. "Where? Where is this student?"

Raven glances at the boy with-blonde hair, she notices, and a black glove palming the glass.

"O-out there-look at there!" Raven points out the window. The boy's black cape blows, and his curly blond hair follows. "H-he has blonde hair and-!"

The boy turns his head and her words gurgle down her throat. Two beautiful eyes meet hers, and the world around her falls into a soft background noise.

"Golden eyes." His wide eyes shimmer, and she tells herself from now on gold is her favorite color.

Raven admires his round face and jaw, and his slim fingers that often bang on the window in song. The boy's black trench coat sways, and his black shirt follows in a softy melody. His dark boats press against the window's bottom ledge, and his hands covered in dark gloves grab the sides. His golden hair blows out of his face, and his golden eyes burn through everything with its intensity.

Raven feels the room pick up in temperature. She sees fire around her, but she can't seem to get lost in the flames. She tames them, although she doesn't know how she's doing so.

"I-I don't see anything-and you don't either!" Her teacher slams her pale hands on Raven's desk. The seat top rattles. "How dare you mock me?!"
