Final Destination

Everyone has to embrace the final destination. My cousin was pumped enough courage to take the journey. He had no other choice… similar so did I… bonded in the same fate… the same tyre !

With our prayers we started the journey in the drizzle. Overhead god was following us with the moon in the background. I had started to sweat due to the tension and anxiety. The concentration was overwhelming. I just wanted this thing to end and take a long tea break at home.

Then it happened. The tyre skid first to the left and while trying to recover it back to the right until it straightened itself.  I stopped to see the shape of a snake from left to the right showing the marks of the skid. My cousin was unharmed as well but speechless. He had temporarily lost his speech!

The tea stall was a couple of feet ahead. I got down from the bike after my cousin and pointed towards the tea stall. We went walking by pushing the bike till the stall. I ordered 2 cups of tea. They were quick to be handed over to us.

The sudden screeching sound made us leave the tea sipping incomplete. The live demo of another motorcycle skidding at exactly the same place where had just had our acrobatics left us bewildered.

The person was able to save himself. He looked shaken and before we could move to help him he started walking towards us. With a faint smile he commented “The tyre of my bike always skids!”

Was he the guy that my distant friend told me about! Was I just imagining things till now? Was it actually normal to skid now and then without a reason? My mind started running.

The guy reached the stall. My cousin’s stare had eased a lot. The tea stall vendor handed the cup of tea to this guy and said “There was an oil spill at that spot. And like other spots in the city where this oil had split everyone skids”.  I and my cousin stared at each other and then at my bike’s tyre. It sure had skidded and it had every right to skid ! The TYRE SKID was not just a skid; and it was not more than a skid !!! It was a TYRE SKID.
