CHAPTER 14

LUHAN

It pains me to see Minjin hanging out with Taemin. Well, I can’t just step in and take Minjin from him. That would mean an unwanted attention to the three of us. I know Minjin doesn’t want that. She must be having a hard time right now. I bet she does. My subconscious tells me ironically. I sigh.

If Taemin hadn’t transferred here, he wouldn’t have met Minjin. Minjin wouldn’t have fallen for him. I kick a rock out of my way, furious, as I sit down on a bench. I look around the campus. I sigh again.

“Luhan?”

I turn and see Seohyun.

“Um…hi.” She smiles shyly at me.

“What is it?” I ask as I get up.

“Uh…President Park…and you…?” She raises an eyebrow at me.

“Ah, I guess you already know?” I ask. I let out a sharp breath.

“Rumors have been spreading,” she tells me.

“I don’t want to talk about it, if you don’t mind,” I mutter.

“Oh…I’m sorry.”

I give her a small smile. She stares at me for a long moment. I feel tense all of a sudden. She leans into me.

PARK MINJIN

 

“I feel so bad,” I say.

“Well I can’t really blame you for liking Taemin,” Xiumin tells me as we leave a classroom. “You can’t really control what your heart feels.”

“I feel so bad hurting Luhan,” I mutter. “And I know I’m hurting Taemin too.”

“Time will come when you need to choose,” he says, glancing at me. “You need to choose.”

“What if I choose no one?” I ask.

“Don’t be so cruel,” Xiumin answers. “Choose no one and you’ll end up hurting both of them and most of all, yourself. Someone has to sacrifice, someone has to let go.”

“Love is difficult,” I mutter as I let out a breath.

“Choose and love will be as easy as eating pancakes,” Xiumin says, offering me a smile.

“If I choose Luhan, does that mean–”

“It simply means that you’re really meant for each other,” Xiumin says, cutting me off.

“And if I choose Taemin?” I ask.

“Simply means that you’re throwing away Luhan’s seven-year love because you think you love Taemin more,” Xiumin tells me.

I sigh. “I know you’re telling me to choose Luhan.”

He grins at me. “Of course.”

“It’s not that easy,” I say as we walk around a corner. I look up and watch as Seohyun leans into Luhan. My heart stops. My mind stops. Everything stops.

Luhan pushes her away and turns around. He sees me. I look down. I can’t stay here. I clench my fists and leave.
