It was a sunny, late afternoon. It was sixth period, the last class of the day. I, unfortunately, had physical education for my last class. It sucked, because the sun would beat down on us students as we were forced to participate in sports. The sport we were currently playing was softball.
There was only two things that made me okay with having this class. 1) My friend Hong was in that class, so I could talk to her. 2) The boy of my dreams was in that class also.
The "boy of my dreams" was named Austin. He had caramel skin, dark brown eyes, spiked hair in the front, and a cute, sheepish smile.
"Kim!" Hong called for me across the field. We were currently in the softball unit at my school. I walked over to her, still deep in my thoughts.
When I walked over, I saw that it was only Hong standing by the backstop and Austin at home plate.
"Oh, um, hi Kim," Austin awkwardly said.
"H-hi," I stammered back. My face grew red because I was in a 15 feet radius of his handsome self.
Hong gave me a look that translated to something like haha yes I called you here so you could be near him haha.
I glared at her before speaking to Austin once again. "So... what are we doing?"
Austin scratched the back of his neck. "I... uh... I guess you can bat and I'll be catcher."
"And I'll be pitcher!" Hong added, delighted that I was going to be around five feet away from Austin.
I readied my bat, waiting for Hong to throw me a pitch. Hong did, and I missed. I was expecting Austin to catch the ball and throw it back to Hong, but instead I felt an arm go around my arms.
It was Austin's arms.
He put both of his arms around my body; his hands were placed on mine. He tightened my grip around the bat.
"Kim, you have to swing like this," he said, moving my arms in his to demonstrate.
I blushed wildly, and managed to squeak out a "yes". Hong watched us, smiling.
"Okay Hong, we're ready," Austin said, his arms and hands still in contact on my own.
Hong threw another pitch, and this time, with Austin's help, I (we?) were able to launch it a couple feet.
Hong started clapping. "Good job!"
Austin let go of my hands, which I was half relieved about because I was starting to feel lightheaded but I was half dissapointed I couldn't feel his skin against mine any longer.
Austin got back to the catcher's position, and was silent for the rest of the time until the PE teacher called us in. I turned around.
"Thanks Austin," I fidgeted slightly, "for, you know..."
He looked at me and smiled that sheepish smile. "Anytime, Kim."
That day was a perfect day.
DEDICATED TO KIM
