That morning, Alex woke up with a positive mindset. He went downstairs with a smile, ate his breakfast and went off to the bus stop with 'Ded' playing in his ears.
Then it began. It was a non uniform day at school and he was wearing a Killstar shirt, black trench coat, fingerless gloves, skinny jeans and a pair of Doc Marten boots. The whispering didn't get to him, the laughing did. They would point and ask thinks like 'why would you dress like that?' and call him a 'stupid goth'. He couldn't wait for the day to be over so he could talk to her again.
Half way through the day, someone started shouting 'catfish' at him. He didn't listen to first few times but then they yelled 'Alex is being catfished' and he couldn't ignore it any longer. He ran off crying, asking himself how they knew and whether it was true or not.
That night he messaged Harley asking her if she was real. He felt stupid for asking her but it was just to make sure.
'Of course I'm real, why would you ask that x' she replied.
'I know it sounds stupid but I've just heard all these stories...x' he said, breathing a sigh of relief.
'Maybe we should meet up? I know it seems soon but we would get along really well. You can stay mine for the night because it's a long journey☺️x' Harley said. This made Alex smile again.
'Sure, when are you free? x'
'This Saturday. That work for you? x'
'Of course! x'
That night they stayed up all night organising what they would do. It was gonna be perfect, he thought to himself. The best day of his life.
'She's not a catfish' he'd whisper to himself, 'that's just what they say'.
