The train came to a halt as a girl and her parents stepped off. Halsworthy. That was their stop. It was a gloomy town with a clock tower over a thousand years old. April, a fourteen year old girl wasn't so intrested. "Wow this place just screams Grim Reaper" she said. A carriage was there waiting for them and she quicky realized that it had come to pick her up.

When April stepped out of the carriage, she saw a white house with three windows lay in front of her. "Even death wouldn't want to live in this copped up cottage!" she exclaimed. Her mother sighed "Fortuna!".

Inside there was a kitchen, two bedrooms and one bathroom. April room was no diffrent to the size of her parents' bedroom. Small. Her room wasn't like back home. Back home her room would be twice the size of her room now. "April this is only temporary" he father said calmly.

He explained to her that after the summer classes were over they would move to a bigger house. Though there were about another six months, April still thought that her father could've at least gotten her a bedroom with two windows.

That night, dinner was a brief serving. Not like when they were back home. Even though, April's father wasn't home they would still have a nice dinner while the servants washed dishes. But now they had stone beets and lemon fudge! This was madness. Stone beets were hard as stone and lemon fudge tasted like lemon jello. "Maman will we have something better to eat tomrrow?" Her mother nodded as she washed dishes.

April lay awake in her bed looking out the window. Her silk nightgown had been made by her grandmother back home. "I can't wait for the day we move out of this dump" she said, looking at a certain star.

"April! You're going to be late for your first day of school!" her mother said. The girl got up and sighed. She looked out of her window to feel the cold air with a hint of warmth........
