Namjoon watches Seokjin from the comfort of their pink sofa, wistful, silly smile painted across his face, because damn; Jin looks so cute when he's being all motherly like. Jungkook has come over to theirs a couple of times this week, after having his heart broken by a girl and claiming it was 'the end of the world', to quote him verbatim. Jin had been more than happy to cook him endless amounts of comfort food and baby him. And Namjoon can't lie; he's kind of enjoying it. Seeing his Jinnie like that made him feel like a dad, and it was almost like an insight into their future together. Unconsciously, his smile grows into a grin, dimples prominently etched into his cheeks.
"Aish, Namjoon-ah, why are you sitting there grinning for no reason? Will you explain to Kookie that this girl was not right for him and there are plenty others that will treat him better?" Namjoon snaps out of his trance quickly and glances over at Kookie, who wears a cute and whiny pout on his face. He secretly smiles to himself at Jin's exasperated expression.
"Oh, uh, yeah Jungkookie, listen to your Eomma- no, Jin. Listen to Jin hyung," he corrects himself quickly, chuckling when he saw Jin roll his eyes at him.
"On second thought, Kookie, maybe you shouldn't listen to Joonie."
"Hey!"
Jin wraps an arm around Jungkook, ignoring Namjoon's protesting looks and leads him to the sofa, turning on the TV. Kookie snuggles up to Jin and he strokes the younger's hair, Kookie sighing peacefully. Namjoon shuffles over to them, attempting to wrap his arms around Jin, but Jin pushes him off gently, shooting him a look and pointedly mouthes 'not now'.
Oh.
Namjoon is confused. Why won't his Jinnie cuddle him? Then it hits him.
Oh.
Kookie was stealing all of Jin's attention. This week, Namjoon hadn't received any warm cuddles, no late night chats and no sweet dinners together. Instead, Kookie had been there all along, stealing his hyung's attention and love.
Now Namjoon's grin has fallen from his face, and his cute dimples are replaced by his tough stage exterior. He gets up off the couch suddenly and Jin's and Kookie's eyes follow him, surprised.
"I'm tired. I'm going to sleep," he says in a gruff voice, and then leaves, just like that. No goodnight hug, or kiss... not even an 'I love you'. And Namjoon goes to their shared bedroom, shuts the door, and as soon as he's sure they can't hear him, Namjoon cries. He lets his tough exterior completely crumble and sobs. Namjoon knew he could never have Jin all to himself, but it still hurts seeing him give no attention to him anymore.
A few moments later, there's a soft knock at the door and Namjoon freezes. He doesn't want Jin to see him like this, it would make him worried and that's the last thing he wants.
The door creaks open slowly, and Kookie peaks his adorable bunny face around the corner. So it wasn't Jin, huh. Kookie was the last person Namjoon needed to speak to.
"What is it Jungkook?" He asks sharply, perhaps a little too much. Kookie recoils quickly, hurt clearly written on his face. "Aish, I'm sorry Kookie, I'm just tired. Come here," he says, and Kookie waddles over, automatically wrapping his arms around Namjoon and resting his head on his hyung's shoulder.
"Jin hyung is crying," he says blatantly, casually, just like he's talking about the weather.
Namjoon pulls back sharply. "What? Why is Jin crying?" He's cursing inside his head, though, (not out loud, come on people let's save this boy's innocence) because he thinks he knows the reason why Jin is crying. And he thinks it might be him.
Frustratedly, Namjoon sighs and runs his fingers through his hair, softly letting out an "aish"and standing up, leaving Kookie looking after him confused as he leaves the room.
Namjoon slips out of the door, whispering a little 'get some rest' to Kookie, before wandering on his tip toes to the living room. He's about to open the door but his hand pauses midway when he hears voices. No, just one voice, but it sounds like he's having a conversation. Namjoon leans closer to the gap in the doorframe.
"Yeah, yeah, I know, Yoongi. And I really do love him! *sniffle* Yeah, I spent time with Kookie today, *sob* so what? *sniff* And yesterday, yeah. Yes, and the day before, and the day before that... *sniffle* ohh. I guess I can see what you mean now. But Namjoon won't want to talk to me now, I've been so bad to him!" With that Jin wails down the phone, and Namjoon can't take it anymore; he steps slowly into the room.
"Ah, Jin hyung? What's wrong, Jagi?" He asks awkwardly, still standing at the door, fiddling subconsciously with his hands and keeping his focus down. He doesn't, however, miss the slight red colour that paints Jin's cheeks at the word 'Jagi'. Even after all this time that they've been together, Jin can still be so shy. And to be completely frank, Namjoon adores that about him. Actually, Namjoon adores everything about him.
Jin sobs a little, wiping his eyes and hugging the couch cushion. "Aish, Joonie, I'm so sorry, Jagiya, I didn't mean to upset you, I just wanted to help Kookie, you know? I'm so sorry I didn't pay attention to you, oh, I feel so stupid, I'm so sorry..."
Jin's little sniffles grow to full on wails, and Namjoon rushes forward, clumsily almost tripping over their glass coffee table on the way there, and immediately wraps his arms around his the older, who sniffles dejectedly into the crook of his neck.
"Don't apologise Jinnie! It's all my fault, I knew you were just helping Jungkook, but I can't help but get jealous. I just love you so much that I want you to be all mine. I'm sorry, Jagiya," he spills out in a tangled mush.
They sit together for a while, simply just holding each other and basking in the other's love. Namjoon tries to shuffle even closer, if that's possible, and inhales Jin's heavenly scent of flowers and freshly baked bread. He kisses Jin's head softly.
"I have an idea," Namjoon starts. "Instead of me getting jealous because of all the time you spend with Kookie, I'll help you with him instead. That way we can spend time together, but Jungkook will still get your love and attention. And, who knows, it might be good practice for our future someday, you know." He says the last part blushing slightly and smiling softly, cute dimples etched once again in his cheeks.
"I think that's a great idea, Jagiya."
With that, they snuggle up close together, with an old kdrama playing in the background, even though they're both just secretly admiring the other.
Just at that moment, Jungkook enters the room.
"Um, sorry to interrupt the moment and all hyungs, but I kinda still need a ride home..." Jungkook stutters awkwardly.
Jin sighs, getting off the sofa and walking towards him. "I'll do it Joonie, you get some sleep. I'll be back soon," he says.
But before he can step out of the room, Namjoon wraps his arms around him from behind, resting his chin on his shoulder. Smiling at Jin's adorable blush, he mutters softly into his ear, "It's ok, Jagi. I'll come with you."
