~ Kristen's POV~

Half past 5, I sighed annoyed I still had four more hours until my shift ended, today had been extremely long and hectic-then again what December wasn't? October to December were the busiest three months for the GCPD because of Halloween which brought all the psychos out of their caves which of course meant more work for me. I shove a file into the ' X' slot of one of the filing cabinets, due to the victims last name being Xavier as I heard a knock at the door closest to my desk, I walk over as my heels click loudly against the floor as I pull it open to see-much to my disappointment- Tom Dougherty at the other side " Tom? Do you need something?" I ask, trying not to sound disappointed.

~ Tom's POV ~

I walked over to her "Me and Riddle man got into an argument earlier. He's such a creep. The guy doesn't even belong in the police force. The case we were working on.. This psychopath went on a killing spree and Nygma defended him!" she looked at me, seeming startled by my sudden change of attitude towards the Forensic Scientist " what did he say? Maybe he had a reason for it....." she attempted to reason with me. "How could someone have a reason to side with a murderer rather than his own police force? He had no reason for it. I've always known he was weird but now i'm starting to think he's crazy. He said that the murders might have been 'justified', and he just wouldn't let it go, so i stepped in." I saw her brows furrow in confusion " what do you mean by ' stepped in' ?" she asked worriedly. "I had a chat with the guy... I told him if he didn't cut it out then he'd have no place in the force. Why are you defending him?" she shook her head " I'm not. I just don't think you have the right to judge." I laughed at this ridiculous comment "I'm a police officer. He's some science loser with no place defending a murderer." I got closer to her until she was against the filing cabinets and I grabbed her wrist "And I hope you're telling the truth when you say you're not defending him"

~Kristen's POV~

I felt his grip tighten around my left wrist, I tried pulling away " Tom I promise you, I'm not lying.....please let go." I try to pull away again. He wouldn't loosen his grip, he even pulled me closer. "Good. If you are, you're going to have more than a couple of bruises on your wrist" He loosened his grip a bit. I gulped " Tom, Please let go " I plead, even the little amount he let go still wasn't enough, his threats almost hurt more than his grip on my wrist. "Do you love me? I'll let go once you say that to me" He said. I felt tears begin to well up in my eyes " T-Tom...don't make me say something that you and I both know is forced" I manage to stutter out, avoiding eye contact. He raises his voice, but no one can hear because the door is already closed. "Say you love me right now" he grabs both of my wrists tightly. I whimper " I love you." I know he won't actually let go completely, just loosen his grip a lot. "That's all I needed to hear" he smiles and kisses me forcefully, establishing his dominance with me still not being able to move. I try to pull away but think better of it before I try any harder. The door to the Record Annex swings open, Tom and I pull away but not fast enough for my liking, I look over with my eyes, over the top of my Glasses frames I can see Mr.Nygma has walked in, and quickly leans on the door looking down. He leans over me "So do you forgive me?" I give a simple " mhm" in response with a nod of my head. "Good. I'll see you tonight." he says, I give another " mhm" quitely and after what felt like an eternity, he walked off, as Edward Nygma was now waiting to enter the room.

~ Edward's POV ~

Tom Dougherty, after just having what looked like a forceful interaction with Miss Kringle, walked toward me as I stood in the doorway, holding a carved watermelon I had initially meant to bring her. "How's it hangin', riddle man?" Dougherty says, I avoid eye contact. "Uh it's hanging... fine" I say as he clearly wasn't meaning to evoke a response. I walked over to Miss Kringle. She adjusted her glasses and inhaled quietly " Mr.Nygma, did you need something?" I walk over to her quickly "Oh, yes Detective Gordon wanted me to go through forensic evidence of these old murders." She went toward her cabinet, and as she did I noticed bruises on her wrist. My immediate thought went to Tom. "Did officer Dougherty do that?" I asked, now feeling very concerned and protective. She gasped quietly and pulled down her left sleeve " he was upset and I said something I shouldn't have and -" I cut her off "No Miss Kringle this is not right he can't just -" she now cut me off " Mr.Nygma it is none of your concern." she said sternly " now i have to get to work on these files so if...." she trailed off looking at the papers and started to look for the files. I didn't want to push any further for information, so I left. As I was walking out, I knew that I had to do something about Tom Dougherty.
