The Mysterious Man

Chapter 1

I watched him from the living room window, that's all he does. He just sits on the porch, staring at all the kids. It just seems odd, you know? New man moves into a small town into an even smaller neighborhood, then I always see him playing with kids. All I know is he better stay away from Iyani. "Watching the neighbor again I see?" I turned around and seen my mom, smiling at me. "Something just doesn't seem right about him" she sighed and sat down next to me. "Look June, I know you're not very fawned of new people, but you can't change the fact that Charlie moved in, she stood up and rubbed my cheek. "Why not go talk to him, you may enjoy his stories" I chuckled "No, thank you, I'd rather watch paint dry" shaking her head she ran her fingers through my hair, "Come on, it's time to eat. "I was staring down at my food, pushing the corn around with my fork, "June, why aren't you eating? Your mom worked hard on this meal, the least you could do is eat it." Looking up at my dad I smiled softly, "I'm just not hungry right now, may I be excused?' I have homework to finish", my mom looked at my dad and he nodded his head. Taking my plate, I put the rest of my food in the fridge and headed up to my room. As I was walking out the kitchen I could hear my mom whispering to my dad, probably about how I'm feeling uneasy. I sighed and closed my bedroom door, flopping down on my bed I stared up at the ceiling, I need to talk to Iman.

"Really June? He's just a guy that loves children" "Wow you sound just like my mother" she rolled her eyes and smiled, "Look, you need to let loose a little, he seems nice, my little brother likes him. He also hasn't tried any perverted shit either" "Yet, he hasn't tried any perverted shit yet" she frowned "Look Iman, I just don't like him. The vibe I get from him is just weird, even his mom is giving me a bad vibe. She never comes outside during the day. She's on some vampire shit." I couldn't do anything but laugh at the last thing I said, Iman soon followed in. "Ok so I'm going to do this, when both of our parents fall asleep, ill come get you. We need to have some fun, plus you're so tense right now June." I sat and thought about it for a while, it would be nice to have some fun. I also am very tense about this situation. "Alright Iman" I smiled "Let's do it."

It was 1:32 in the morning when I heard a car horn outside, I walked up to my window and peeked through the curtains and seen Imans car. Quickly and quietly, I walked past my parents' bedroom and down the steps, when I got to the door I disabled the alarm. "Alarm Disabled" I forgot how loud that was. I waited for what seemed like hours, trying to see if anyone woke up from the noise, when no one came down I opened the front door, "Front Door Opened" and slid out the house. "Took you long enough" Iman said, as I entered her car. "I had to be stealthy, then I forgot the alarm system talks when you do stuff" she chuckled and started driving. "Where are we going anyway" I said while looking out the window. "So... there's this party" I sat up "No Iman" she looked at me "Come on June, it'll be fun. Please, you can't live your high school years avoiding every party that happens. Live a little." Crossing my arms, I shook my head, "Fine"

When we pulled up at the house there was cars and people everywhere. Music blasting through the speakers in the backyard, people dancing, drinking, and doing god knows what. "Whose party is this?" I asked, "I think its Blake's, his parents are out of town" "Obviously." We both walked into the house and were greeted by a guy handing out glowstick bracelets. "Single, Taken, or Looking?" Iman and I looked at each other, "Single" we both said. He handed us a yellow bracelet. "I don't see the point of this" I said, "Its probably just a hook up thing", we both made our way to the backyard and seen just how packed it was. Everyone was all bunched together, in little groups, talking, and having fun. I smiled softly at the thought of this being my first party. I was about to say something to Iman when I heard someone shout something "COPS" Iman grabbed my hand and we ran straight for her car, so much for my first party. When we got inside her car we drove off. "I can't believe the first time I go to a party, the damn cops show up" Iman laughed, "They were bound to come anyway June", she took a right turn down my street, I looked out the window and seen Charlie's mom, I think her name is Linda. She was going into the shed in her backyard, its two in the morning, why is she going in there? "June!" I jumped, "What!" "I've been calling your name, we're here" I looked up and seen we were in front of my house. "Oh, alright, bye Iman" "Bye June"

I slowly opened the front door and closed it behind me, locking the door I reactivated the alarm system "Alarm Set", I walked up the steps, past my parents' room, and went into my room. Closing the door, behind me, I changed into some pajamas, and slid into bed. As I was getting into bed I felt something hard next to me, when I lifted the sheets I seen Iyani, sound asleep. I smiled and kissed her forehead, and soon drifted off to sleep.
