Rachel's POV
I sat by Michael's bedside as the doctors explained to me what was going to happen to him. "We need to pull the plug for him. It's what's best." The doctor said. I didn't bother to learn their names. I was too worried about my husband of 65 years. "It's for the best ma." My daughter Grace said. I looked down at his body, remembering all the fun times we had over the years. How we figured out the real secret in life, the real meaning in life. Just in a few minutes of meeting.
"Ok, pull the plug." I said starting to cry.
"It will be okay mom, he is in a better place now.", Grace told me as she held my shoulders, attempting to comfort me. I watched as they pulled the breathing tube for my husband, automatically my mind went back to the day I knew he wasn't going to last longer."Babe, I think we need eggs when we go to the store." Michael said as he shut the fridge door."okay, just put it on the list." I said turning on the radio. Every Thursday we danced to our wedding tape. "Ready?" I asked. "Yea-a," I heard. All of a sudden I heard a thud in the kitchen. "Michael, did you drop something?!" Nothing. "Michael?" Nothing again. As I got curious I went in the kitchen. "MICHAEL?!" I screamed as I saw my husband lay on the floor in fetal position.
Thinking about that day makes me want to cry my eyes out. Seeing him so helpless. His health went down from there.
I know I won't be able to make it without him.
Just then it felt like I was having a heart attack and then it all went black. Then there was a light.
