Kayla's POV

You realise that once you've locked yourself into a cage, you'll have one hell of a time getting back out. So when Joakim stepped into my room, I was screaming in some numb part of my brain. The majority of me could feel nothing. But I was trying to break free of the prison I had built around myself. I heard him say that I was going back with him. When I did not respond, he picked me up and carried me out. Miss Hayley handed him the pictures I drew. I was glad for that, I wanted to see what I drew. When we got home, he layed me on my bed. "You would probably be laughing at me right now. Probably for my 'gullibility'." he said. "Hoping you heard the finger quotes in my voice." he added. I was reminded of the time he had said that to Sjin in Blackrock. Or rather, Paul. Then he jumped up and sprinted out of the room. Unwillingly, I was pulled back into the dim trap of my mind. Numb. Pure black nothingness. Then a new voice floated into my dark prison. It was slightly familiar. It was also singing. I fought desperately against the thing holding me captive in my own body. I felt it shatter and suddenly I was free. I looked around and saw long brown hair. Then a face. A face I knew, it was Zoey. Zoey was singing Blackrock story for me! "I don't know whether to feel hungry or starstruck." I said when she had finished the song. Zoey jumped. "Kayla!" she shrieked happily. "She's back Ryth!" Zoey shouted out into the hallway. "Thank God!" I heard Joakim say back as he ran into the room. Quicker than I could smile, he tackled me into a giant hug. "What happened!" asked Joakim pulling away. "Well, when I went back, I started barricading myself from the rest of the world. Then I got trapped inside of myself. I could see and hear everything, but I couldn't react. If it hasn't been for Zoey, I doubt I could've broken out of the prison." I said in reply. The room went quiet. "What's for dinner?" I asked breaking the tension. We laughed and I knew that I was home. We enjoyed a great meal and I went off to bed. So much had happened in the last three weeks, I just wanted to go to school and  have friends and be at least semi-normal. I reminded myself to ask Joakim about that tomorrow. Then I went to sleep, and had terrible dreams. In one, I was chained up and Sam was beating me, and my fingers were black from cold. In another I was trapped in a silent, black room. I touched the walls and felt a hot liquid dripping down the wall. I sniffed it and almost choked. It was blood. Then I jolt awake, sunlight streaming in through my window. My night of horrors was over.
