After the Harrington family had been sitting and driving in the car for 9 hours, they finally arrived to the infamous town Roswell. Aron's mother had told him that there were many teenagers there around his age, although that didn't seem to make Aron any more enthusiastic. "let's see... We live in cottage number 6, so could you and mom go take our bags to that one over there?" mr. Harrington said, as he pointed to a cottage with the number 6 written next to the door. Just from this distance, it was apparent that the cottage was old. But Aron didn't actually mind it all that much. He kinda enjoyed the smell of wood and fireplaces anyways.

"Where are you heading then?" His mother asked curiously, already getting out of the car. "I promised to deliver some papers to the chief here as soon as I arrived, so I'll be back with both of you two soon, don't worry." He said, before turning away. "Oh, before I forget;" He turned to Aron, smiling lightly. "You should be safe wandering alone as long as you're close to the cottages. Just don't head into the forest or in the farming area alone, alright?" Aron nodded lightly, feeling the hair on his neck rising slightly.

Before he could manage to compose a sentence, his father had already begun to walk off. "Well, you heard your father." His mother said, with a carefree chuckle as she started to carry some of the bags to cottage number 6. Aron followed right behind, and put the bags down by the entrance. "Alright so- I'll start unpacking, but could you be a sweetheart and go buy me some ingredients?" She asked, digging in her pocket before pulling out a small handwritten list, and some money.

"But... I thought I wasn't allowed to go anywhere alone except in the cottage area?" Aron said, raising an eyebrow. But his mother just shook her head. "The market place is also within the cottage area, so it's full of people." She told him this as if Roswell had many people in it, which it definitely didn't. Only a few hundreds actually. "just head down left until you've reached cottage number 1, then keep walking a little further and you'll reach the market." She said, already waving him off once she had handed him the list and the money. One glance at the list was enough to tell Aron that she was making waffles.

As Aron was walking down the road, he began to notice how truly small the village was. Apparently it only needed one market and one kiosk because of this. The road was still covered with a thin layer of snow, and it was slightly foggy outside. It was pretty quiet, and all he could really pick up on was the sound of his shoes crunching the thin snow, and his own steady yet muffled breathing. It wasn't until he noticed something odd in front of him that his breathing jumped abruptly. A pale figure with long hair and dark dull brown eyes was standing in front of him. The same dark eyes that had been staring at him through the window for barely a second. But this time, he was actually able to observe the figure.

Upon closer inspection, he noticed the girl was wearing a pale pink beanie, and carrying a forest green umbrella with her. The girl seemed to be around the same age as him, or maybe even a year older. She took a few steps closer, and her eyes seemed less intimidating, and much warmer. Even friendlier. She had a subtle grin on her face, and before he knew it, she was standing right in front of him, delicately shaking his hand.

"Nice to meet you! My name's Alison Schulz, but most people just call me Alice. Are you new around here?" She said, her smile seeming somewhat genuine. "Uh... Yeah. My name's Aron Harrington. How did you know-"

"Well most of us already know everyone who lives here. Not to mention, being the chief's daughter includes me having to know when newcomers arrive. Especially those who will be transferring to the same school that I go to." She chuckled, pulling her hand back and letting it rest on her hip in a casual but confident manner. Her brown eyes had a much warmer hue now than before. Although that was probably just the lighting. Aron actually found her somewhat pretty, but there was indeed something off about her.

"But... I mean this may sound weird but- I swore I had seen you an hour or so before I got here, while we were driving." Aron said, letting out a light but nervous chuckle as well. Maybe to just lighten the mood for himself.

Alice tilted her head, with a confused expression. "Weird- I've never set foot outside Roswell before." Aron's eyes were cold and expressionless for a moment, and he felt a shiver down his spine. But he couldn't even piece his thoughts together before she had begun to continue the conversation.

"Mind if I ask where you're going?" She asked, fiddling with the umbrella in her hand. "I mean, you do seem somewhat confused and lost, I have to say." Aron cleared his throat as he nodded. He wasn't really lost though. He probably could've found his way easily. But this was his rare opportunity to get a friend, which was difficult to pass up. He'd be living here for a year anyways, so.

"I was heading to the market to pick up some ingredients for mom." He said, showing her the list as well. She read through it quickly, before grinning more. "Alright then! Follow me." She turned to leave, and Aron followed right next to her.
