Nina's POV

Paul's wife, Lucy, told me to meet her at the mall so we can do some bonding and get to know each other more.

She said that after shopping, we are going to go to the hospital so we can get on with this as soon as possible. I was worried, very worried, for 5 million I am letting another baby in me for nine months and I didn't even know the people very well.

But I had to do it, for my life, this will help me with my future, I will have everything I want and I won't have to have extra jobs or anything like that. I just hope everything works perfectly because I REALLY need this money.

I arrive at the mall in about 14 minutes of walking and I call Lucy to ask where she was. Just then I hear her shouting my name and I smile.

"Hey Nina," Lucy said very excitingly.

"Hiya!" I said even more excitingly. Honestly, inside I was dying of anxiousness.

"Let's do LOTS of shopping, and then we go to the hospital to get started with the surrogacy." Lucy started her sentence with full happiness but then it turned... sad.

*********************************************************************

Lucy and I talked a lot while shopping and we bonded very nicely. She was a very kind person. It was sad how good people have to suffer so much. Lucy and I went to the hospital afterwards to start with the whole surgery.

Lucy and Paul had already had done everything to prepare for the surrogacy so Nina didn't have to wait for days for them. She had been taking supplemental progesterone to prepare her uterine lining for pregnancy. Now all she needed to do was wait for 2 weeks so she can take a pregnancy test to determine whether the implantation is successful. The rest of the stuff she didn't really know so she just trusted Lucy and Paul to focus on that.

I had just gotten dropped off by lucy and Paul to my hotel when I saw smoke coming out of it. Well, shoot. My hotel was on fire. the fire alarm rang and everyone who was in the hotel came running out. Some of them were half naked. I snickered to myself when I remembered that the fire was still coming so I stopped laughing and decided on calling the police. HoOW WAS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE? This hotel was a 5-star hotel and it was completely safe. I had searched up this hotel a few days ago because Pauline said I was staying here and nothing like this had happened before.

The fire department came a few minutes later but there really was no point as everyone else from the hotel had managed to stop the fire. Stupid people. What is the point of their job if they aren't going to come on time?

"Everyone please stay calm, we will do something!" the hotel manager dude said.

"What's the point? All our stuff has burned down and now we don't have anywhere to go! We had come here to have a good holiday and this is how we get treated?" One of the people spoke up.

I was angry. It's not like it was the manager's fault! unless he burnt it himself...

"Listen here, you dumbass, it is NOT the guys' fault here. I mean, yeah, MAYBE he could have been more careful with his hotel but MAYBE it isn't his fault. What if someone did it on purpose? I know that this hotel has been here for about 14 years and nothing like this has happened before. What if it was YOUR fault, You or anyone else doesn't know what is happening here so if you would please shut up and listen to him."

"Thank you, ma'am," The manager guy spoke up, he then continued; "right, as I was saying before I was KINDLY interrupted, the guy said while looking wearily at the idiot who was speaking too much. "We have our other hotel just 10 minutes away in which we will take you and as for your belongings; the things that aren't damaged you will get back and we will provide everything new and better for everyone. We are deeply sorry for everything that has happened and we hope we can help fix everything that you have problems with. The coach will be here in about 5 minutes until then, the staff has arranged some brand new clothes for you until we reach the hotel. Thank you and again we are extremely sorry for this inconvenience.

Everyone was annoyed but they didn't say anything because they knew that the manager was also suffering.

"Excuse me, ma'am."

I turned around to see the manager dude in front of me.

"Oh hey, bro," I said to him.

"bro...?" he said quietly. Then he just shook his head and continued speaking.

"Hey, my name is Brian and I'm not the manager; my dad is," Brian said toe in a jokingly manner. "I just wanted to say thank you again for telling the weirdo there to shut up. It was quite funny actually. My dad has just come and he is very grateful for what you had said to shut everyone up. Also, when you said how somehow, someone else could have done this fire it made my dad remember his arch enemy who was just here a few minutes before the fire happened. The police are trying to search him an-"

"Son," said a guy from behind me. "They have found the person and he's going to prison.

I turned around and saw a guy that looked similar to Brian. Damn, they look very alike.

"It was indeed Lewis and he's very angry." He then looked at me. "You must be the girl that helped find the culprit!" he started speaking very cheerfully towards me. "Thank you so much ma'am, we can't possibly imagine a way to thank you. So, whatever you want, my son will help provide you."

I was actually quite happy. Maybe I should be a detective and help people with crimes... Nah, too lazy. "Actually, I do need a phone to call someone so can I quickly borrow your phone?"

"Certainly ma'am, and in an hour you would be provided with a new phone from us and new belongings."

He gave me his phone and walked away to talk to the driver who had just come to take us to the new hotel; Brian was still standing behind me.

"My dad said everything that needed to be said and just remember I'll be there whenever you need me. Also, here's my number, just in case... you are in need of anything. Anything.

I smiled at him. "Thanks, Brian. If I need anything I'll make sure I'll call you." I mean, he was quite handsome.

I called Lucy to tell her what happened and after a few minutes, she and Paul came to the hotel to see if I was alright. They'll be taking extra care of me now since I'm going to be looking after their baby. I didn't really need clothes from the hotel because I had just gone shopping today and got everything new but I still had some stuff I needed and I was going to make sure I got it from Brian.

Lucy and Paul were talking to each other about something and then they walked back towards me and they made a decision that I should be living with them; they said that they would just say something to the family but they didn't want me to live in a hotel anymore because it could be dangerous.

I gave the phone that I got from Brians' dad and then went to Brian.

"So, I'm leaving with... uhh... my sister and I just wanted to say bye. Don't worry though if you want, we'll stay in touch." I said to him jokingly.

He chuckled. "Well you have my number, so... just call?"

"Yeah... Well byeee!" I then walked away towards Paul and Lucy.

"Who was that?" Lucy said.

"The manager's son." I said slightly smugly.

They both looked at me weirdly.

I chuckled. "I'll tell you when we reach back to your house."
