Excerpt taken from a lecture given at the leo institute
"All right so for today's lesson we'll be focusing on the different types of mages and how they are seen in the world the first type of magic is what we refer to as an aristocratic mage. Aristocratic mages come from magic families which are families in which every single generation is made up of people with functioning magic circuits some of the big families are the Leo's, my family, the white's, home to boy iris and Eliza -through adoption-, the wonder's, and until the last few decades the black's. Aristocratic mages also have access to their families 'family special'."
Harmony raised her hand "um excuse me mister leon what exactly is a family special?"
"A family special is a technique developed and mastered it is unique to that family and can only be accessed by other magicians if they are taught by a member of that family. My families special is soul shield which gives someone armor based on their soul, the whites family special allows them to send the souls of the dead into the next life which is also what allows them to hold a monopoly over the orders head spot. The second type of mage in known as mutated mage. Mutated mages are mages who are born with functioning magic circuits but the rest of their family does not have them why these mages are not any better or worse than an aristocratic mage but their children will most likely not have functioning magic circuits"
This time it was Tracey who raised her hand "w-what do you mean by f-functioning magic circuits?"
"This is magic politics not magic sciences, Mary will be more than happy to answer that question after this class. The third and final type of mage is an artificial mage. Artificial mages are highly frowned upon because they are not born with functioning magic circuits instead they have a transplant of circuits from one dead mage into a living non-magical creature they are hard to pick up though and normally just seem like mutators mages"
