Chapter 3: The Golden Boy Carries a Gun

I jumped back into the wall.

"What the hell!" I let out as I hit my head.

"Jesus Aaliyah," It was my mom.

"Sorry, you scared me," I said while rubbing my head.

She stared at me with a concerned look on her face.

"Are you okay? What happened? I thought tryouts ended at 7:00, it's 8:45."

"Yeah"

"Yeaaahhh, so wasn't Kayla's mom supposed to bring you home?"

"Yeah, but Alicia, Kayla, and I just decided to walk."

"Without telling me? Aaliyah it's a school night and you girls are walking alone this late?"

"I'm sorry but nothing happened, we were fine." I stared at the ground while the memory of Stephan shooting that guy in the chest replayed in my head. I couldn't tell her, I don't know why but something in the back of my mind was telling me that it wasn't a good idea."

"I don't care, you pull something like that again without telling me and you're grounded, anyways," she sighed " I made dinner"

"I'm not hungry"

"Fine, just go get in the shower you have school tomorrow"

"Okay!" I yelled, already making my way up the stairs"

I ran into my room, slammed the door shut behind me and plopped down onto my bed. Did that just happen? That really just happened. I just witnessed a drug deal, and just watched someone get murdered, all in the same night. This is fucking ridiculous.

"Oh shit," I almost forgot......Stephan saw me.

"Welp, looks like I'm gonna die"

Unless, he didn't know it was me, oh what the hell am I talking about? Of course he knew it was me, he looked right at me.

" Yup, I'm gonna die"

"Who's gonna die?" I looked up to see my bedroom door open and my stepdad looking down at me.

"N-Nothing, no one" I stuttered.

"Okay", he raised his eyebrows at me. "So how did tryouts go? You think you made the team?"

"It was good, and yeah, I think I did pretty well, but I'm just really tired now so I think I'm just gonna get in the shower and go to bed."

"Alright, goodnight," he said as he closed the door.

"Goodnight."
