she didn't come the next day. she decided that he wouldn't listen to her - no matter what she did, so she decided not to waste her time. she would hike somewhere else, just to avoid him. 

he had decided to stop cutting down trees, so he waited in that spot, everyday, to tell her. she never showed, though, so he lost interest. 

one day, she went hiking there, just to see the damage. but, when she got there, she saw him planting trees. 

"what are you doing?" she asked him, slightly happy, but slightly suspicious.

"planting trees." he said.

"why?" she asked. 

"i thought about what you said, and you were right. animals need places to live, and we need oxygen." he explained. 

she grinned at him, and helped him fill the hole with the new tree, with dirt. 

"at least you finally stopped cutting them down," she said.

"yeah," he said, "i'm sorry i ever did cut them down."

"at least now you're planting more," she said.

"yeah," he said. 

then, they planted trees together, everyday.
