Inside a marvelous palace, a lonely celestial spirit sat upon his throne looking high and mighty as always. His hazel eyes were shamefully concealed behind blue-lensed sunglasses. His thin lips formed a dangerously handsome smirk, bearing his intimidatingly sharpened teeth. This smile was the same one that always hid his surreptitious intentions from those he could hypnotize with his smooth actions and charming personality. His ears were aborned by two studs, and a flower-shaped earring. He was top ranked in the human world as an eligible bachelor, for his looks, persuasive skills, and his incoherently incredible ways with the ladies despite his playboy reputation.
Here in the celestial world, he allowed his true form to be exposed. It was a form that would mortify any living human being.
His black claws made tapping sounds as he drummed his fingers on his armrest. His hazel eyes flashed gold, and his lion tail swayed slowly, cutting through the air.
His outfit consisted of a forest green shawl made of silk from the celestial world. His white shirt was casually unbuttoned revealing his toned abs, (his chest was hidden by the shawl) and his dress pants were kept in place by a fancy leather belt. His black dress shoes were polished to a shine.
He crossed his legs and rested an elbow on the armrest of his throne. He leaned his head against his fist with a cloy look on his face as yet another celestial spirit confronted him with an issue too petty to be brought to the great Celestial King himself. Leo the Lion was the leader of the zodiac, and it was his duty to tend to the lesser issues.
Should a fundamental law be broken, the King would take charge of the situation.
This spirit that came to Leo was one that visited often. A red serpent slithered across the floor, its massive body moved side to side smoothly and swiftly.
"Hydra, what a surprise." The lion mused.
He didn't move from his position in the throne as the spirit came to a stop and lifted his bulky head. His forked tongue slipped through his scaly lips before he spoke in a raspy voice.
"You seem lonely, master Leo. Perhaps it is you with the most troubling problem of all."
Leo narrowed his eyes. His distinguished features showed annoyance as he huffed. He was lonely, but it wasn't as if he had a choice.
"What is your problem, Hydra?"
"Now I could tell you that but you would hardly give a serpant's tail."
Leo raised a brow. He didn't say anything to prove his fellow spirit wrong. Truthfully Leo would rather be with his mistress, Lucy. She was his key holder, and besides the celestial king she was the only one he served. She was a gorgeous female with long blonde hair, deep brown eyes and a smile so warm it made his heart melt. She had the body of a top rank model. She was incredibly smart, kind, and charismatic. Her cheerful personality always brightened his mood.
That was why he flirted with her so often.
She was the being that proved perfection was attainable.
"Its no secret to me what you would rather be doing." The snake hissed and bowed his mighty head. "With all do respect my lord, you know very well that the girl doesn't love-"
"Shut it!" Leo jolted to his feet, letting out a mighty roar. He stepped down the few marble stairs leading up to his throne and Hydra lifted his head higher to meet the enraged gaze of the kingly lion spirit.
"Have I struck a nerve?" He taunted.
"Leave." Leo ordered. He knew very well Lucy had feelings towards Natsu Dragneel. It hurt him to know that one day he would be forced to smile at their wedding. He would never be able to flirt with her, or wink, or have his fun with her.
He growled as Hydra slithered away, a devious smirk hidden beneath a look of pity.
Leo followed him, and as soon as Hydra was outside the palace, he slammed the doors shut implying that he was done for the day. The lion spirit stormed to his bed chamber to keep spirits from entering in on his moment of fury... or rather jealousy.
The spirit let out a haggard sigh and sauntered across the white carpet of his massive capacious room. Two steps led up to a marble platform almost entirely covered by a soft red rug. On top of the platform rested a bed far too big for one person, with silk red sheets and multiple soft pillows neatly fluffed and placed. A tapestry hung from the left stone wall displaying a regal looking lion with a crown atop its head. To the right, was a walk in closet, and a dark oak wardrobe filled with different elegant suits. Pictures hung on the wall by the door. They were all pictures of his previous owners, him and his friends, and him with his owners. His favorite one, he kept by his bedside table.
He picked up the picture and was careful not to damage it with his claws. There, he had his arm around the blonde mage and beamed at the photographer. Lucy was smiling too and had even decided to cling to his suit jacket for the picture.
It was pitiful of him to act so broken over a female... a human nonetheless!
But spirits were allowed to love. And spirits couldn't help feeling pain. They felt the same emotions any human would, and this time it was a heartbreaking feeling that swelled up in the lion's courageous and usually strong heart.
"You should visit her."
"Gah! Virgo?! How did you get in here?!" The lion whirled around. He was so startled by the sudden interference of his fellow spirit that he nearly dropped the picture of him and Lucy.
"The door was unlocked so I let myself in. If that is wrong, I will gladly accept punishment." She said to him flatly.
Leo shook his head and set the picture down before rubbing his face in frustration.
"I'm not going to... punish you... Virgo. And I'm not going to see Lucy either."
"You never pass up an opportunity to see the princess."
She wasn't wrong. Every time Leo had the chance he would open his own gate. Usually it was just in the nick of time, and he would save Lucy's life. But he didn't sense any distress from her at the moment, and she probably wouldn't want to put up with his frivolous antics.
"I'm far too tired." He lied.
"That's never stopped you before." She paused for a moment to let silence take over the room. It was the awkward kind, and it forced Leo to embrace the fact that he wanted to see Lucy. Oh he so wanted to see her. Virgo continued, "I suggest you visit her. The others worry, and so do I. You've never been so captivated by a human."
"No spirit has ever been fond of a human... except Taurus. Virgo if I go and visit Lucy, I run the risk of creating a bigger void between us. You know how she feels about Natsu. She would rather it be him flirting than I."
"On the contrary. I was curious and decided to read the princess' diary. She wrote very highly of you."
This peaked his interest, and made his heart skip a beat. "She did? Wait you read her diary?... She did?!" He smiled and walked over.
She nodded. Virgo explained how Lucy often admired the constant fervent look in his eyes, and how she envied the way he looked so prepossessing even when finished with an intense battle. She wasn't too keen on the idea of her stellar spirit flirting with so many women, then trying the same tricks on her, but his drive was yet another thing to respect about him.
"She said all that about me?" Leo asked, enticing a smile from Virgo.
"Yes, there are a few pages about you in her diary. I shouldn't say any more since I've said too much already."
"I need to get my hands on that diary..."
"She's hidden it. It won't be easy to find." Virgo warned but Leo wasn't listening. He was planning a smooth way to confront Lucy. He had to get her out of her room so he could read her diary!
"Virgo, thank you for stopping by. But I really should get some sleep." Leo climbed into bed to further the lie. Virgo bowed and left after wishing good dreams to him.
After he was sure she was gone, Leo started to once again plan the diary mission.
