Loke stepped into Lucy's apartment vigilantly with the diary tucked close to his chest. He crept, on tiptoe, further in and closed the door silently behind him. It was late. Loke decided to wait until his mistress was for sure asleep.
No, he never read the diary. It would have been wrong of him. He already broke into the blonde's home, went through her pictures, violated her underwear drawer, and watched her undress and shower until she couldn't see him through the glass. To read her diary would violate her privacy even further.
He slithered into Lucy's room and over to the hiding spot where her diary belonged. Quickly and quietly, the male opened the drawer and moved the lingerie aside to put the journal back beside the bunny ears. He covered it up again, and closed the drawer.
Loke froze up as Lucy shifted in her sleep, groaning something aloud as well. The mage mewled in her sleep and squeezed her eyes shut tightly. The lion stayed idly in place, his legs wouldn't let him leave. If Lucy woke up, she might not see him there in the dark.
The blonde sat up instantly with a slight yelp. "No, don't!" She shouted. Her shoulders moved with her heavy, exasperated breathing and her eyes were glued open. The air around her felt cold, and she tensed up. "Is someone there?" Now, not only was the poor princess shaken up by her nightmare, but she was aware of his presence in the room too. "Who's there?!" She demanded.
Loke stepped out from the dark and into the large rectangle of moonlight that stretched from the window, over Lucy's bed, and almost completely across the room. His heart was pounding in his chest. What would he say? He needed an excuse.
"It's you." She sounded relieved.
"It's me, beautiful. I- ah... sensed you were in distress, so I decided to come here and show face if you needed me. I didn't mean to frighten you." The lion approached her bed and watched as she moved over. He sat down on the edge at Lucy's feet, but the look on her face showed she did need him. She wanted him to come closer. The mage scooted over even more, and Loke took it as an 'okay' to sit on the bed beside her.
"What's got you spooked, hot stuff?"
"A nightmare."
"Do you want to talk about it?" Loke casually slipped an arm around her waist. She was too tired to push him away or show rejection, so instead she leaned into him and rested her head against his shoulder. Lucy was warm, cuddly, and more importantly frightened. She wasn't paying attention to the sound of his heart. It was throbbing wildly.
"No, I don't think so... I don't want to even think about it." Her voice cracked a little.
Must have been one Hell of a nightmare. Loke's hand rubbed her side comfortingly. "Then let's talk about something else?"
Lucy nodded. She liked the sound of that. She stayed close to Loke's warmth as if to make sure she wasn't dreaming, like she would lose him if she moved away.
"Did you know that, in the celestial world, I live in a huge palace with a throne room and everything?"
"Mm-mm, no. I bet it's beautiful."
"Not more beautiful than you!"
Lucy smiled tiredly and closed her eyes as she listened to the sweet sound of his voice. It was so soothing.
"Hm~ you must really be out of it if you aren't scolding me for that one."
Lucy only nuzzled his shoulder in response and laid down on the bed. "Just keep talking, please."
Loke looked down at her, and spoke smoothly. "It has everything but a queen, which is where you come in!"
The blonde's eyes shot open and she glared up at him. "No."
"Okay-okay- ahem... there's a massive library filled with books. I already read them all. I plan to bring you some, there are some novels I have that are almost impossible to find here anymore."
Lucy smiled warmly as if she was admiring how sweet he was to think of her like that. "I also would love to cook for you sometime. I personally think I make some killer spaghetti."
"I didn't think spirits had to eat?"
"We don't. But that doesn't mean I don't like spaghetti!"Lucy gave a half-assed giggle. "Sure. But only as friends. It won't be a date."
Loke rolled his eyes playfully. "You call it a get together. I'm counting it as a date."
The mage whined, "No. It isn't a date!" No matter what, the male would count it as that date he always wanted from her. Maybe if this date went well, the mage wouldn't be opposed to a second one. "It's a date." Loke said flatly. The lion was so determined for one nice evening with Lucy, he would take what he could get.
"We could go for breakfast sometime too."
"Bakery?"
"Yes, we can go to a bakery. There's one not to far from here actually. It just opened up and I've been meaning to take a look-"
"Croissant."
The lion laughed and rubbed the mage's shoulder. "You can get a croissant." He earned a satisfied nod from Lucy.
The mage made a quiet noise as she mumbled something with weak lips. Loke leaned closer, "What was that?"
"Thank you for coming."
