A love like no other

A tragic start

The weather was harsh and bitter as the rain poured down on the street of New York, most walked fast down the street to escape the rain with scowl and anger in their step. However their was one girl who stood out from everyone else, she looked to be about 19, dressed in torn and dirty clothes with long matted golden hair and blue eyes, she stood forzen in the rain with a look of peace and happiness etched onto her face like nothing could faze her. What most didn't see behind the bizarre girl is that she is alone and scared of what will happen, scared of facing another night alone and terrified of the things around her, the joy on her face doesn't reflect her heart.

The girl standing in the rain is Alex, who for her whole life did all she could to help other, she volentuered at church and orphanages and always strived to make other happy. But the universe had a ways of being cruel especially to those who least deserve it, it started when Alex's parents were killed in a car accident on their way home one night, Alex was home alone waiting for the to watch a movie and eat dinner. It wasn't till a knock on the door that her whole world fell apart.

Before that day Alex had been a slightly different type of girl, she struggled to be like everyone else, she didn't drink and party, didn't have any friends. She liked to read and help people, most would say she was a baby or loner, or she was sad but Alex liked her life. Her parents knew she was different from others, she just has a different kind set and liked simple things and they loved her for it, but they were worried about how she would cope on her own with Alex having extreme anxiety and a lack of social skills they were concerned,they didn't have lots of money and had no other family so they didn't know what would happen to their daughter when they were gone, but they didn't want to worry on that yet because they had plenty of time left with her, or so they thought.
