UPDATE****
I woke up to the sound of screams, cheers and chants. My eyes fluttered open, but I can't see. The light was blinding me. I rubbed my eyes to try to see through the light to discover what woke my slumber. I woke dizzy and confused I stumbled over to the window and peered from my window down into the town. The screams were real and so were the cheers, people suffocated the streets and pushed to see the next recruits, the next sacrifices. It all seemed so surreal but I was glad it wasn't me. It is happening again. It's why I wanted to run... sprint... scream. But I couldn't. I can't go back in time and unfortunately, I can't go into the future. This is the new millennium and even though humans are gaining stronger everyday, the purpose for our existence is decreasing. Humans are becoming problematic for nature and I honestly don't understand why we need to exist. Animals are wild, the sea flows, the sun shines and the world works without us.
In this millennium, women are not seen as humans and men have become a superior race. The influence of evolution has created men to a different formula and has made them stronger, smarter and faster. Testosterone floods our world and estragon is suppressed into the smallest form; a woman. Women can't speak, eat, assert their opinion or breathe without a man by her side. We are forbidden to receive an education and to emasculate a man. Men are seen as a prophecy, a god-like figure who is superior to any animal, human or religion.
Before my time, the men won the world in a terrible war that killed over half the population of the world. Men and women fought against each other, even forcing and training children and animals to fight. It was a bloodthirsty and dirty battle that eventually became a massacre, which discombobulated, beheaded and lacerated people from their souls. Many people lost their lives, loved ones and families and that's if you were lucky. The most tragic part of all is the war is still being fought, but it is much more silent now. It is the small scream of a newborn baby girl being torn from her Mother's arms or loving breast. It is the screech of the mother who has to watch her newborn child being tortured and knowing she'll never be able to protect her again. She knows that is her future for any other girl she conceives. Worst of all, it is her brother watching her newborn sister being taken, remembering the love which they shared and knowing that will be his occupation one day. Boys have a conscious; however it seems to disappear when they reach pubescent age.
As the siren cheers it is obvious they have found another baby girl. Screaming and screeching can be heard kilometres away. Poor girl. Each year, every newborn girl is taken into an institution. As women are not allowed in hospitals, all births occur at home and are born through surgery. Girls are not required to have a birth certificate until age five so girls never know their real age. Some girls aren't found until their toddlers. If the authorities find an unregistered child, the Mother gets beaten in an inch of their life, which is a sick punishment for wanting to best for your child. All children are taught from birth that 'the Gonosz' are our parents. The Gonosz are an international male organisation that ultimately controls women in their kingdom. They create rules, morals, laws and almost any fragment of life for woman. Girls don't feel, see or experience anything similar to human or male life. Girls are sheltered and are made to conform. This world is where self-expression is punishable by death. However, dishonestly and rebels punishments are harsher. All girls are held in institutions for life against their parents will and raised to the Gonosz' expectations. Except for me.
I am different. My mother dressed me as a boy until I was ten. I believed I was a boy too. I went to school with the other boys and grew up with a human childhood. I learned about what my future will entail and how to treat a woman. My Mother hid me in our basement and claimed I had died from malnutrition as an infant. She was condemned an unfit mother by her friends just to keep me from going into this institution. She was a brave woman. A rebel. I do not aspire to anyone else other than my Mother. She placed her life on the line to defend everything and rebel against this disgusting world. She has courage, enough to raise me on her own in secret. Her plan worked for fourteen years before they caught me in the street. Random raids were becoming more popular. I went to the grocery store to grab some milk, bread and medicine, as Mother was sick and becoming weaker. The authorities stopped to ask me a question and then become curious, as I didn't resemble a pubescent teenage boy. The way they found out wasn't peaceful either. Sexual assault has become growingly popular since the last amendment; since women did not have the basic human rights, including the right to free speech. We aren't treated equally because we are only made for one reason; to procreate and even that doesn't occur naturally.
