Song for the chapter: Impossible - James Arthur
"Nothing too dressy" I told myself as I changed into something to wear for the banquet later. I didn't want it to seem like I was actually going to enjoy the time I had with Danny.
Now on the other hand, I did enjoy trying to show off in front of Danny's friends becase it made Danny uncomfortable.
Was it wrong that I liked seeing him squirm around me, trying to discourage his friends from looking at me? Nahh... It was too funny to not enjoy it...
Around 5:35, Danny sent me a text. 'Here'. Wow he couldn't even come to my door and walk me to his car? Guess not...
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
At the banquet, all of the tables in the auditorium/ cafeteria had been covered in tablecloths. Little football centerpieces had been added too.
Danny hadn't touched me once since I had gotten into the car, but as soon as we walked through the front doors of the school, he wrapped his arm around my waist.
I rolled my eyes, but he didn't notice. Danny lead us to a table where many of his other friends were already sitting.
"Hey! What's up! Danny! Yo dude!" they all greeted Danny as he sat down, letting go of me, leaving me standing there behind him.
The other guys noticed what he had done immediately, leaving strange faces on all of their faces. Finally, one of the guys named Mikey said something "Charlotte, you're looking as lovely as always."
"Thanks" I answered back. Danny turned his head to see me standing there. "Hey why don't you sit down, it's gonna start soon", he said, scooting out a chair with his foot.
His friends just watched him with confused faces, but Danny was watching the slid-show of pictures being projected onto the stage.
After awhile, they all looked at me. I just shrugged my shoulders, and then looked down at the floor. I couldn't stand looking them in the eyes.
I knew exactly what they were thinking, and I was thinking exactly the same. Why was Danny being such an ass tonight?
Not long after, speeches began. Some were funny, others were sad, and a few were a bit inappropriate. It's high school guys though, what are you gonna do?
Mikey was giving his speech, "... My favorite part about this season though, probably had to be our amazing team manager always being there for us. Thank you Charlotte!!! Hey Charlotte could you please stand up?" oh god no... I slowly rose to my feet, feeling my face get redder as I went.
"I'm sure she would have loved to give a speech tonight, but she recently had a bit of a run in with the floor, so her head is nice and bruised. Guess she should be wearing a helmet too!" All of the parents and guys laughed at his joke.
I just smiled, gave him a thumbs up, and sat back down. Danny turned around to face me, "Hey one of the guys is having everyone over for pizza after this. You wanna go?"
"I guess..." I mean I was hungry, what was I gonna say? "K cool" he responded before turning back around.
Yea, another high school boy party. This night couldn't get any better...
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
We arrived at the party. It wasn't too crazy like most teen parties would be, but soon we figured out why.
Everyone was gathered in the kitchen, eating as much pizza and ice cream they could get their hands on. What classic football guys.
One of Danny's friends noticed that we had walked in, "Hey it's Dan and Charlotte!" Everyone greeted us and brought us closer to the food.
Danny dug right in, but I held off. "Come on Charlotte, aren't you hungry?" a guy next to me said. "No, I'm good thanks" I sweetly responded.
"Aww don't be like that. Girls gotta eat something" he said a bit louder, drawing the attention from others. "And I said I was good, so no thank you" I said sweetly again.
Another guy tossed a pint of ice cream at the counter in front of me. The first guy looked at it, then back at me, "Ok, how about a bet? If you eat this whole thing, I'll give you 25 bucks"
Everyone heard his offer, and started saying "do it, do it, do it..." including Danny. I looked around with a worried face, "I'm lactose intolerant though, I can't"
"Fine, I'll give you $100 then." I looked at him, "Higher, how about $200?"
He raised his eyebrows, a bit in shock "Are you serious?" I looked at him smugly, "Yes".
"Fine, you eat that entire container, I'll give you $200" He said holding out his hand. I shook it firmly, "Deal"
Everyone around us cheered. What was I doing? I was going to get sooo sick from this...
Over the course of a half hour, I slowly at the entire pint of ice cream. When I finally finished it, the guy slapped the money on the counter next to me.
"Honestly, I didn't think you would actually do it" he said almost disappointingly. "Well I guess I proved you wrong, now didn't I?" I said jokingly.
I was really starting to regret doing it though... All I knew was that this was going to be a long night...
