You were about to go to bed when you heard the knocking on your door.Sighing heavily, you opened it. Loki stumbled in.
"Loki! What are you doing here at-" you checked your watch "-eleven o'cklock at night?"
"I didn't know where else to come," Loki muttered as you shut the door.
"What's wrong? And why are you wearing a coat?" you asked, as you walked him to the living room.
"It's not that serious... but... uh... well..." Loki pulled down the hood of his coat.
You stifled a giggle. On top of his head were two cat ears.
"It's not funny," Loki crossed his arms, "I just want you to get rid of them!"
"Can't you do that yourself?" you asked.
Loki started to blush. "It's affected my magic," he muttered, looking away.
........................................................................
"Oh, I see what they've done," you muttered, observing the traces of magic on Loki's hand.
"Can you reverse it?" he asked.
"Probably, it's little more than an elaborate prank. They've made you grow cat ears, and blocked your magic so you can't reverse it," you explained.
You got up to start the reversion spell, and tripped.
Loki meowed. He legit mewoed.
"Loki?" you asked, looking up from the floor. He was clutching... a tail.
"You stepped on it," he accused, stroking it gently.
"Sorry, I didn't know you had a tail," you muttered.
"Niether did I," he replied.
"Now give me your hands," you instructed. Taking his hands in yours, you pulled him up from the sofa, and closed your eyes momentarily to perform the spell.
"Done," you said a few moments later, "You'll be back to normal by morning. It may take a while for the magic to have any affect though. Tea?"
Loki nodded.
........................................................................
When you came back into the living room, Loki was gone.
"Rude!" you clicked your tongue, "Not even a goodbye!"
A small meow from the floor caught your attention. There was a small black kitten.
"Hello," you cooed, "Where did you come from"
You tried to pick it up, but it spat and hissed. Ignoring it's resistance, you picked it up anyway.
"You're so cute," you mumbled, stroking it's head. It wriggled, trying to escape.
"Don't worry, I won't hurt you," you reassured it, walking towards the front door.
You opened it and yelled : "Loki! Get back here you idiot!"
Snowflakes flew across your face, but Loki did not appear.
Sighing you shut the front door.
"Stupid Loki!" you told the kitten. He mewoed as if protesting.
You sighed. "I don't mean it. I love him really, it's just... My spell will take a while to work, and I don't want something bad to happen. If he doesn't have his magic..."
You sat on the sofa with the kitten on your lap. He mewoed again.
"I know he'll be fine in the snow; the cold doesn't bother him... but what if he slips and falls into a ditch, and gets hurt and has no magic to heal himself with?" you asked.
The kitten meowed pitifully.
"I guess I am over reacting huh?" you mumbled.
He meowed again.
"Why am I even talking to you like you understand? You're just a cute kitten. Would you like some dinner?" you asked.
The kitten meowed and looked up at you. You clicked your fingers and some tuna appeared next to him. He sniffed it cautiously, then turned back towards you and meowed again.
You teleported the tuna away. "Not a fish fan huh? You know, Loki-"
-the kitten interrupted you with another "meow"-
"-doesn't like fish either,"
You paused for a moment. "Do you know where Loki is?"
The kitten meowed again.
"I wish I spoke cat," you mumbled.
The kitten stared at you. He stayed like that for several minutes.
"If you're wondering if I'm going to bed, I'm not," you told the kitten, "I want to be up, in case Loki comes back,"
The kitten continued to stare at you. "You can sleep here," you told it, "We'll try and find out where you came from in the morning,"
Seeming to give up on whatever it was trying to tell you, the kitten curled up to go to sleep on your lap.
........................................................................
The next morning, you woke up to something - no someone - heavy, laying their head on your lap.
Opening an eye, you realised that it was Loki.
What the frick was he doing here? And why was he lying on your lap?
At least his ears were back to normal.
He woke up, and sat up next to you.
"What are you doing here?" you asked crossly.
"I've been here all night," he replied, folding his arms.
"No you haven't; don't lie. And where's my kitten?" you demanded.
Loki's cheeks started to flush pink. "It's not my fault I turned into a kitten!"
That's when you realised. The little black kitten had been Loki!
"So..." Loki ventured, "Is it true that you love me?"
You blushed bright red. Of course you had had to spill your heart to the kitten. Now Loki was going to reject you, and you'd have to live with a broken heart forever.
"Who said I'd reject you?" Loki asked.
"Don't read my mind," you snapped.
"I wasn't. I simply heard what you said under your breath," Loki told you.
You looked away. You felt a hand in your cheek gently move your head back towards Loki.
Then he kissed you.
