"Promise that you'll never ever leave no matter what?" I said, holding my hand out,
"I promise," spoke Aria, my best friend, holding my hand in hers. That was when we were 8. We promised each other that we would never leave one another no matter what. Ever. And now look at us. We're still together. We go to the same University, live in the same flat and still wear our friendship bracelets everyday.
I opened my eyes. The breeze raised goosebumps along my arms.
"Why is my window open!?" I shouted. I heard footsteps in the corridor beside my bedroom. "Why are my curtains are open!?" I screamed again. Swiftly, my door opened. Entering the room, holding a tray with some porridge, orange juice, silverware and condiments, was my best friend. "Oh, Aria! There you are. Why are my curtains and window open?"
"Oh, that was just my attempt at softly waking you up. I'll close the window now if you're too cold?" Said Aria with her sweet voice.
"No no, it's okay. But why did you bring me this?" I asked, staring at the food and dribbling slightly.
"Have you seriously forgotten!?"
"Forgotten what?" I queried.
"Your fucking birthday!" Cried Aria. We both started giggling, then Aria placed the tray on my lap.
"Thanks, Aria. You really are the greatest friend a girl could ask for," I squeaked,
"No problemo mi bestino!" Aria joked,
"What does that mean?" There was a moment of silence and Aria looked at me, blankly. "Just kidding!" We both fell into a fit of laughter, then Aria opened the door again and turned her head back round to me.
"Happy Birthday, Tasha." She signalled her head downstairs as if to say, 'I'll see you down there, but be quick, Uni starts in 30 minutes'. We can read each other's minds... nearly.
