That next day I was taking Eddie with me to go see my best friend Jessie. I really hadn't seen her in so long that I was really excited to see her again. The drive to Jessie's place took forever because my old car was slow but did the job. Jessie was more than happy to see me again.
"Holy shit Sapph, my have you changed." Jessie said as she threw her arms around me.
"Yeah, I know. Maybe its because I'm no longer living in misery." I told her with an honest smile.
"I never thought John would be the kind of guy to do those kinds of things to you. I mean in the early days he treated you like a queen." Jessie said because the early days of us were the only good ones.
"Jessie, this is Eddie." I told her.
"Hi Eddie." Jessie said giving him a small smile.
"Hi." he said kind of quietly.
"You're good Eddie, just be yourself." I told him with a smile. There were certain times he was shy but at others he was the most outgoing one in the room. Right now he was being a little more reserved and shy.
Jessie and I just kind of smiled, I didn't even have to tell her he was shy. She knew right away after seeing how he acted.
"Don't worry darlin' you'll get used to me." Jessie said with a wink as she lead us inside to sit down. I looked at him and he looked a little nervous.
"Eddie are you alright?" I asked him looking his off expression.
"Yeah I'm fine just really nervous." He said smiling lightly letting me know it was the truth.
"Eddie you have nothing to worry about. Jessie is a sweetheart and you've already gotten the really hard stuff out of the way. You already met my mother." I reminded him lightly.
"I know you're right. I'll be fine though." He told me with a small crooked grin. It was one that was so uniquely him.
"So Sapph, how are you now that you finally have your life back" Jessie asked wanting to know like the concerned friend that she's always been.
"Better, I'm still kinda adjusting though." I said trying to keep the conversation off of my dark past with John. He was better left as a distant memory.
"Well, I'm glad that its over and you're safe and starting to feel normal again." She said with a smile.
"What is the definition of the word 'normal'?" I asked her while grinning like an idiot
"Oh don't start that with me today Sapphire." Jessie said with a grin. I laughed and it felt like the biggest miracle.
"Okay, okay, So Jessie are you still with Jake?" I asked her since I hadn't talked to her in quite a while.
"Yes, and Jake just asked me to marry him." Jessie said as she showed me the diamond engagement ring.
"Oh my that is so pretty!" I told her as I looked at the ring. I casually left to go to the bathroom.
(A/N: This story has mostly been from Sapphire' s perspective, it will continue to be so unless I say other wise.)
*Eddie's POV*
"Jessie, can I ask you something about Sapphire?" I asked her. I wanted to know some basic things about her.
"Sure, what do you want to know?" Jessie said with smile.
"Well I just wanted to know what we're some of the things she liked? She doesn't tell me too much about her past." I told Jessie beginning to feel comfortable around her.
"Sapphire, she loved animals especially cats. She loved writing, music, books, she loved the color blue. She was just an all around happy person when I knew her. Her music was mostly rock and blues music." Jessie told me smiling. She liked thinking of her friend happy.
"Wow sounds like before John she was a totally different person, every now and then she'll tell me something about her past before John. Sometimes I don't think she remembers that she had a past before John." I told her.
"Give her time, she'll start telling you more. She just wants to make sure that you're going to stay before she tells you too much about herself. Its the natural way that she protects herself." Jessie told me. Now some of the things that Sapphire said and did were starting to make a little more sense to me.
*Sapphire's POV*
I came back into the room to find that Eddie and Jessie were talking. I didn't know what they were talking about and I didn't really care.I sat down next to him, he smiled and put his arm around me. He seemed to be a lot more comfortable. I was glad he wasn't as nervous as he was before. Before too long it was getting late and Eddie and I had to start heading back home. Once we were in the car and pulled away I started speaking.
"So what did you think of Jessie?" I asked him wanting to know if he liked her.
"She seems very nice and seems to care about you a lot." He said smiling as I took one hand off the wheel and held his hand in mine.
"That's good. Thank you for coming with me Eddie." I said with a smile.
"No problem Sapphire." He said with smile and a wink.
Getting to see Jessie made my day great, it was even better because Eddie was there with me. I was in love with him no doubt and I knew that Jessie could see that. I knew that nobody really liked John and now that I understood why, it made me glad that a guy like Eddie happened to take an interest in me. He had done a good job of reminding that I was my own person, and that I was loved for who I was. Things that I had never felt before. I felt towards him a way I didn't know a person could feel until it happened.
