thud.

"wake up sweetie, study hour."

sojung lifted her head from atop the desk and ruffled her hair since yves had just flicked her in the head.

"what time is it?" sojung groggily asked.

"time for you to get a watch. 5:36, idiot." yves deadpanned.

"ok thanks yeevees."

"oh, shut up!" yves replied from behind her as she sharpened her pencil.

sojung would never let her new name go. yves was an avid english literature and fashion/culture enthuasiast and could probably end up as a historian in the future. her enthuasiasm came about as a hobby earlier in secondary school and suddenly grew into a passion and a topic she wasn't able to shut up about to others daily. though the brand yves saint laurent wasn't from england, sooyoung or later known as yves to everyone she knew, favorited the brand after a newly hormone-induced crush came into her life.

it was random, but it wasn't as random until sooyoung decided to audition for multiple entertainment companies that produced idol groups. sojung immediately spit her water at the confession sooyoung made to her that she had secretly been idol training. because of her english culture passion, she wanted to sing. opera sing. any kind of singing, it didn't matter. she had planted in a love for music and let it grow over time.

sooyoung did fairly decent in school as any other average student at their standardized school would, but she just hated to see her future stroll into a path of working at some dusty, musty university in ireland teaching the history of england. and she's korean, for god sakes. she wanted to appreciate her own culture and make her family happy for her, for once. she needed to stop her obsessions, forget her crush, and focus on a life that she wanted to pursue even at the young and ripe age of 17 in her second to last year of high school.

but the crush thing didn't work out, obviously.

when sooyoung stepped into a shady building that showcased a minimalistic theme and a poster taped to the front of the glass door labeled "open auditions", she knew something big could happen. something about the building was... calling her. once she completed everything the judges expected her to do, they immediately shot at her a contract. sooyoung didn't even think twice about signing it. she loved the company already, especially from the first impressions she noticed of the charismatic judges.

"sooyoung is a very common name, dear. i feel as to though you might need a stage name," one of the judges sitting steadily on the panel ordered.

"oh! u-uh.." sooyoung hadn't thought that far. she barely thought about training and now, they were already considering stage names.

"think of your passions. values. love. the likes of that matter. it could even just be a rendition of your name like... soo."
