"I have only spent a minute with you and there you are already making trouble. I would've chained you if it only wasn't for the king."All the other phrases run past my ears except for the last one.
"You guys also have a king?"
"Of course we have a king we are not the uncivilized pigs you humans paint us to be.
Our kings are far more splendid for they are chosen specifically by the cosmic energy herself. The energy resides in the purest of hearts. You may be able to see the energy from time to time. The forest is full of it. Or at least it was." Her glow from earlier dimmed a little. "It sounds beautiful"
"It is"she sighs
I stand up and let my hair fall to my ankles.
I tugged my hair and stared into her dry crinkled eyes "So what's this hair for?"
A sense of graveness appeared on her face. She poked her sharp nail into my chest. The skin turning a pale shade of pink. "The energy resides in you"
"What?!"
"The forest has for some reason chosen you. You should know the answer"
I uncomfortably remove my gaze from her blaring eyes.
"I am going to get some fresh air."
I head outside greeted with a swoosh of dewdrops and damp earth. Laid before me was the epitome of beauty. The birds chirped in pairs as clear sunlight shone through tiny water droplets. The scene was calling for a singing princess.
My voice was horrible I knew that but who cares the owls couldn't laugh at me.
"Little bird don't be scared,
Fly away to ———"
I pretended to clear my throat. God was that awful.
In my silence a low chuckle broke out behind my back.
I turned my head to meet a tall shadow leaning against the crooked tree.
