Chapter One
That night whilst Latvia and his fellow Baltics lay in bed asleep, (Name) tossed and turned all night, still bothered by the occurrence that happened earlier throughout the day. No matter how hard she tried to shake the thought of the mystery man's terrifiedbface as he jumped down the rabbit hole, the memories always haunted her.
It was as if it were a curse, destined to chase the girl for life.
And (Name)... was pretty much annoyed.
For a moment, she closed her eyes, flushed her thoughts out and began to drift into a light slumber.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
There was a small tapping noise on the window. (Name) ignored it for a while, assuming that a tree or branch must have brushed against the glass barrier.
She placed a pillow over head, turning on the side of her stomach.
Suddenly, the noise came again. (Name) groaned. She stood up, and opened her blinds. She saw him once again. The boy.
The mystery man who jumped down the rabbit hole.
The girl was tempted to shout for Latvia and his pals.
"D-Don't be alarmed", He spoke quietly.
She, (Name), remained calm and quiet.
Under the moonlight, the boy's complexion was rather pale, he had a soft, sad smile that made her heart shatter into tiny pieces. His hair was blonde and wavy, framing his face as the wind blew. A stray curly hair stood proudly on the middle of his scalp. His glasses covered his serene indigo eyes.
He beckoned for the girl to come out, to join him. She nodded, feeling a little nervous before grabbing a jacket, putting it on and opening her window. He sat on the roof and she positioned herself to sit right against him.
"You're the first to see me." He spoke quietly in his thick Canadian accent.
"Why? What are you a ghost?" (Name) asked, raising an eyebrow in a joking manner. He smiled sadly.
"People assume I'm one." He muttered softly.
"They don't even acknowledge my existence. It's all because of my stupid brother, America. I-I don't mean to be a nag b-but what makes me different from him? We're both countries but people don't understand who I am or what I do. T-Thanks to him, I never had friends."
A wave of sadness overcame her. She frowned before putting a hand on his back.
"Before I ask you anything, who exactly are you?" (Name) inquired.
"Y-You mean you don't recognize me?"
The girl shook her head.
"No, it's just.. I'm new around here. I came here just a few months ago and only then did I understand the complexity of countries and how they work."
"Well then.. I-I'm Canada, but you can call me.Matthew." He beamed.
"Now Matthew tell me why you've decided to jump down that ditch?"
He remained silent for a while, pressing his glasses up against the bridge of his nose. Matthew turned to (Name).
"I-I like it down there."
(Name) couldn't comprehend. "You mean there's a place? In the hole?"
She laughed, unable to believe his statement.
"You wouldn't understand, (Name)."
"The world, filled with people like you, is a real, cruel place."
(Name) raised an eyebrow. A mixture of the feelings anger and confusion lingered within her.
"What are you talking about?! I'm not cruel!"
He looked at her, balling his fists. Matthew's eyes were consumed in anger and rage. (Name) swore that she saw a flash of a surreal shade of purple in them.
"You saw me go down the rabbit hole, yet you didn't chase after me. This world is misleading it's filled with lies like you." He pointed at her. "I thought that you'd help me, I thought you would be able to understand. " His voice cracked. His eyes shone, (Name) could see that he was going to break down soon.
"H-Hey", (Name) started, not knowing what to say.
"(Name)... I'm sorry for troubling you, I guess that it's time for me to leave. Thanks for lending an ear or two. I guess."
He jumped off the balcony.
She ran after him, trying her best to catch up.
She wanted to prove him wrong.
She wanted to prove that the world wasn't just filled with lies.
She wanted to show him that she can be dependable.
"Matthew!" She yelled, gaining on him. Her (coloured) hair trailed behind her.
During the chase, her slippers fell off but she chose to get him back rather than to put them back on.
He absolutely needed her help, and she needed to help him. There had been several times where (Name) was almost ran over by some vehicle, but she couldn't care less.
She needed to go to Canada.
Right now, it was just no use, he was too fast for her. Suddenly he stopped at the venue of the conference held earlier that day. She sighted him jumping over the gates and running behind the trees where she rested. She didn't hesitate to come after him.
A huge hole opened beneath the ground before the Canadian jumped in. (Name) followed shortly after him. She screamed as she fell down, wondering if there'd be an end. She saw weapons, bookshelves, books and floating furniture as she passed by. It seemed wonderful. Suddenly she hit the ground hard.
