"We'll always be together! It's a promise."
"Balder! Please, stop this!" Loki cried to the god of light. Balder had lost it again, what it was this time, Loki wasn't sure, but it was worse than ever before. "Balder, don't do this! It isn't what you want!" Another cut appeared across the bridge of Loki's nose, adding to the collection already covering his body. He winced, taking another step towards Balder, and another, and another, before a new cut flashed across his chest, straight for his heart.
Tears began to form in Loki's eyes, it wasn't often that he was caught crying, and in this instant the only one around wouldn't remember. Eventually, the tears spilled over his eyelids and ran down his cheeks. "B-Balder... I... love you..." He whispered quietly before he slumped to the ground.
Seeing Loki in this state made Balder snap out of it. "Loki!" He almost screamed in horror. He knelt next to the redhead and cradled him in his arms. "Loki, please hang in there! Promise me you'll be okay... I'll call for someone! You just have to stay alive for me-" He was cut off by Loki pressing his lips against his in a soft, gentle kiss. After a few moments he pulled away.
"W-we'll be t-together f-forever, Balder... I p-promise..." Loki mumbled shakily. He stroked the blonde's cheek with a shaky hand. "You d-don't n-need to c-call for anyone... I'll be f-fine, it was j-just an accident with a p-prank," he whispered. His eyes slowly slid closed. "I'll l-love you f-forev...ver... Balder..."
Then his body went limp, and his arm fell back to his side. "Loki? Loki...? Loki! Loki speak to me! You can't die now!" Balder hugged the now corpse tightly. "I'm so sorry..." He said softly.
Upon hearing the commotion, Yui and Thor ran into view. "Is everything alri-" But Yui knew by the sound of Balder's quiet sobs that it was not alright, and Loki was dead.
Months passed and Balder, Thor, and Yui still didn't talk about the events of that night. Balder didn't talk much at all, anymore. Eventually, the other gods began to notice the disappearance of the redhead and most of them decided not to say anything, except for Thoth, who still marked Loki absent every day.
Every time his name was called at the beginning of class, everyone instantly became quiet, as if waiting for him to answer. All that was ever heard, however, the sound of a crackling flame was heard. Balder, didn't hear the fire, though, what he heard was Loki's voice, promising,
"We'll be together forever."
