IT's Back [Stranger Things x IT AU]

Chapter 1

The van was crammed with sweaty teenage boys, awful 80s music, and a bummed out Jane. The only reason she agreed to come along, was because she could have a plus one. Which she obviously used on the black haired and freckled boy to her right: Mike Wheeler. The boy of her dreams, although, she was positive he didn't return the feeling.

Other than her crush sitting right beside her, the journey to Derry was painfully boring. Her dad Jim, and her step mom Joyce were talking about the last time they had visited, claiming it was an experience to remember. Jane hopped that this time would be as 'thrilling' as her step mom played it out to be.

Her thoughts were interrupted by Mike, as he was trying to gain her attention by nudging her shoulder. "Are you enjoying the ride so far, El?" he asked, as Jane focused her attention on her crush.

"Uhm, it's Jane." she corrected, turning her attention back to the scenery passing by. Why did I say that, she thought angrily, I sounded like such a mouth breather!

"And this is why no one likes her," Lucas, her step brother Will's plus one, mumbled to himself, a little louder than anticipated. This earned him an anything but playful slap on the head from Mike. Jane smiled subconsciously to herself, butterflies swarming in her stomach. Had Mike just stood up for her, or was it just a 'friend' thing? "Geez, sorry." he apologized with an exaggerated eye roll.

A recognizable song started to play on the radio, making Will visibly leap up in his seat. He leaned over the console and turned up the volume. "This is my jam!" he shouted and he burst into song. "Darlin' you got to let me know. Should I stay or should I-"

The radio beeped off, and Joyce turned around in her seat with a smile etched on her face. "We're here kids!"

Will groaned in annoyance, but proceeded to climb out of the car anyways, following Lucas. Mike jumped out of the van, holding the door open for Jane, who struggled to climb out from the back seat. "Need a hand El- Uh, I mean, Jane?" he held out a hand towards her, which she gratefully took. She finally managed to climb out, while muttering a small 'thanks' to Mike. He just smiled and nodded as if to say 'no problem'.

Joyce and Jim led the group towards a motel, where they were checked into rooms. Each motel room had two beds, which meant that two people would be sharing a room. Joyce and Jim were sharing a room, obviously, and Mike and Lucas took another room. Leaving the last motel room to Jane and Will, because Will had offered to room with his step sister, so she wouldn't be uncomfortable with another guy rooming with her.

As the fourteen year olds filed into their rooms, they couldn't help but feel someone's eyes burning holes into their backs. Someone who was about to stir up a whole lot of trouble.
