It had been two years since I left my old pack. I had enjoyed my time so much in Arizona that I rarely thought about the situation I left behind. My wolf had become more vocal and annoying after a year away, she was clearly over Porter. The idea that I was mate-less for the rest of my life sometimes brought my mood down, but the people here quickly brought it back up.
I am playing the correct role in this pack, too. Every time a fight breaks out, I'm proud to say that I am one of the first wolves called to the scene. After two years of battle practice with Colton and Ty, I'm a much more efficient fighter now.
Speaking of Ty, after a while of spending time with him strategizing for battles, we've gotten along much better in the last year. We perform most of the border patrols because we're two of the most trusted wolves in this pack. Although, he still is extremely clumsy in every aspect except for fighting.
The first time I was trusted in this pack was a shocking moment for me to swallow.
...Flashback...
"Addie! Addie there's something in the forest, you have to go!"
A small pup named Alessandria runs over to me in a panic, but before she reaches me she falls head over heels and rolls into my legs.
Alessandria is also an enforcer, so every time she runs into trouble while playing, she's the first to alert the pack. And I mean the whole pack.
"What is it, Ales?" I look down at the small pile of pink shirt and grey shorts.
"Something smelled funny," she rights herself with the help of my offered hand, "Branson smelt it too. He told me to hurry back and warm the pack."
"Smelt what? What about warning the pack?" Willow, Ales' mother demands as she rushed over to check on her pup.
"Mom! Branson and I smelt something in the forest."
"Branson is out in the forest all by himself? Adelaide, go help him!" She shoves me in the direction of the forest looming above me.
"M-me? Are you sure?"Willow runs into the house and yells for more enforcers and then appears beside me again with three others.
"Adelaide is in charge of this support group. Head out now everyone! Go help Branson!" Willow nods to us as we head over to the forest to change.
My grey and auburn wolf leads the charge of three other wolves, all of which are older and stronger than me. I'm surprised they're actually listening to me seeing I'm not actually originally from their pack.
Once we track down the abnormal scent and found Branson, he was in his chocolate brown wolf and was fighting off two wolves that looked to be rogues. Once the four of us joined the fight, it didn't last long.
A flash of familiarity passed through me as we force them to change into human form and ask them what their purpose of being on our territory was.
The grey wolf speaks up first, "We are not rogues."
The dark grey she-wolf speaks next, "We have arrived to test you and your pack. Now that we have seen the capabilities of your fighting, we need your help."...Present Day...
As it turned out, those two wolves would change my life in two ways.
The first: they provided the time when my pack began to trust me as one one their own. The second: they asked for help from my pack to run a viscous rogue group out of their territory.
Of course, Colton and Ty agreed to help without much hesitation. They organized a group of wolves to head out to the pack of grey wolves so we could offer backup in battle.
