You and your boyfriend Tom Holland had been dating since 2016 and had -so you had always said- the best relationship you'd ever had. Until one night while you two were staying in a hotel in New York while he was on a business trip. He decided to take you along with him hoping to give you an experience you'd never forget. Now yes you were, of course, having a blast but you were missing your best mate Harrison Osterfield who had stayed back in England. You'd been best mates with Harrison ever since you were born you two had never grown apart even after you started dating Tom. All three of you, you Harrison and Tom, had been best mates since Tom moved to your neighbourhood, but once you two started dating things changed.
You two texted all the time and you sent him pictures of you and Tom's adventures but you missed being with him in general. Ever since a few months ago you started to realize that you'd always had feelings for Harrison, and always had, just never wanted to admit it to yourself.
It was around three in the morning, Tom was asleep next to you, and you just couldn't seem to fall asleep. You knew Harrison would probably be awake by now so you decided to shoot him a quick text. "Hey Haz, wyd?" It took around a minute or so for him to respond but then again he always responded to you quickly.
"Hi y/n/n, currently fixing some pancakes." You laughed to yourself at that from remembering his failed attempt at making them for the YouTube video he made back in October. But before you could type a response he said, "No, I'm actually doing them right this time." then added a laughing emoji.
"You know me too well!" you replied and there was no response for a few minutes so you figured you would let him eat, and try to go to sleep. Which you hoped would be easier now that you'd talked to your best mate.
About 30 minutes had gone by and you still hadn't fallen asleep. Then suddenly the sound of your phone going off, signalling that you'd gotten a text, woke you but you didn't care when you saw that it was Harrison again.
"Hey, you're still awake right?" you smiled and laughed lightly at how he knew you so well. You two had always had this special connection that neither of you could explain.
"Yes, I am (sadly)." you replied
He instantly replied with, "Good I wanna show you something." you smiled and grabbed your earphones from the bedside table, and went into the bathroom so you could have a light on without disturbing Tom.
"So, what'd you wanna show me Haz?" You spoke quietly into the mic on your earphones to be sure that he could hear you without waking up your, peacefully sleeping, boyfriend.
"Well . . ." He dragged the word for what seemed like forever until he finally turned the camera around to reveal a box.
"Harrison!" You whisper shouted upset that he played you like that. He chuckled and patted the box with his hand. "You got me up out of my extremely comfortable bed to show me a box?" He opened his mouth to say that there was something in the box but you stopped him before he could, "Yes, Harrison, I know there's something in the box. I'm not that stupid." he smiled that evil grin he always gave you when he was doing something he knew you didn't like. "How long are you gonna make me wait?"
"Well, when do you get back?"
"Um, I come home next week, but Tom has to stay awhile longer."
"Then next week." You opened your mouth in frustration at having to wait that long -which was actually only three more days- but he stopped you before you could, "Mhmm." he laughed looking very amused. "Sorry Darling, you'll just have to wait. Three days is not as long as you think."
"Fine . . ." You dragged the word in frustration then yawned. Haz smiled. He'd always told you that you looked pretty cute when you were yawning, but you didn't believe him.
"Get some sleep, I'm sure you have another full day ahead of you." You smiled at how caring he was.
"Alright. I'll see you in a few days." You then ended the call and went back to bed. Finally able to fall asleep to the thought of If only he knew how much I loved him. on your mind.
Those next couple days flew by faster than you expected them to but you were certainly glad when the next thing you knew, you were on a plane flying back home. You decided to take a cab to Harrison's flat to surprise him instead of going home straight away. Then again you'd always said that home was wherever your family was and Harrison was family, even if he wasn't blood-related.
You knocked on his door and he opened it saying "Hello?" not registering that it was you, yet only mere seconds later he did, and once he did, he held out his arms as you jumped into them. "I've missed you so much Haz!" You said excitedly as he let you back down to the ground.
"I've missed you too." he said as he just so casually rested his hands on your sides and you didn't seem to notice. "So how was New York?"
"It was A-MA-ZING!" He slightly laughed at your enthusiasm. "So, where's that box?" You said, instantly getting to the point. Which, actually made him jump a bit and his hands slid off your sides -now you noticed that they had been there.
"Oh! That box. Hold on, I'll be right back." He quickly walked back towards his room and you let yourself through the door and shut it behind you, then sat on the sofa. "Close your eyes!" He yelled from around that corner.
"Alright, they are closed." You yelled back, covering your eyes with your hands.
"Ok, you can open them now." You removed your hands from in front of your eyes to reveal Harrison holding a puppy. And not just any puppy, it was your favourite one, the one you'd always wanted, a German Shepherd. You sat there speechless with your jaw dropped -literally almost to the floor. "Y/n, I know you've wanted a dog for the longest time. And that your parents couldn't afford one. And that German Shepherds are your favourite. And I wanted to give it to you for your birthday next month, but I just couldn't wait any longer. And, y/n, there's something else-"
"Harrison I love him. I have, literally, no words for how grateful I am." You said getting up and hugging him tighter than you ever had before. He set the puppy down and hugged you back, just as tight.
"Y/n I-" you knew what he was gonna say so you just went ahead a kissed him. He hesitated at first but then put his hands on your cheeks. However, just as you started to deepen the kiss he pulled back, "Y/n, what about Tom?" You didn't answer. You didn't want to. You wanted to stay in the previous moment that was so beautiful and what you knew you'd always wanted. "Y/n, I can't just, have a thing with my best mates girlfriend behind his back," you opened your mouth to protest because you honestly didn't care you just wanted Harrison and only Harrison. "Y/n?"
"Then what do we do?" you asked already knowing the answer. He just looked at you. "Fine, I'll tell him that things aren't working out between him and I and that we should see other people."
"As long as I'm not with you while you're still with him." You rolled your eyes playfully. You loved the fact that he was so loyal. And you hoped he would never change. He sighed and decided to change the subject hoping to lighten the mood a bit, "So, what are you gonna name the little fella?" The puppy was now chewing on your fingers and you didn't even notice, let alone care.
"Well," you started now letting him chew on your full hand -but careful not to choke the poor thing. "I've always wanted a dog named Zeus . . ." you said the name slowly knowing he might think you're a bit childish for naming your pet after a character from a book series -your favourite book series at that: Percy Jackson. He chuckled at the name but pet the small creature gently and said nothing offensive.
"Well, hello there young Zeus!" He said and you giggled as now he was chewing on Harrison's hand instead, which was much bigger than yours.
