Continuing the last chapter, not long after I fell in love with Disney Descendants, I stumbled across Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie on NOW TV.
And that was how I came across Selena Gomez, who I also thought looked real pretty, and decided to search her up on the internet, too.
And after that, I watched High School Musical, where I first knew Vanessa Hudgens and Zac Efron. And the others followed real quickly.
Like Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell and Laura Morano and Debbie Ryan and Rihanna and Beyoncé and many more.
But do you know the disadvantage of living half way across the world from your idols? It's that you're living half way across the world from your idols.
Like, the mere thought that they actually exist on the other side of the world is fascinating. They feel so far out of reach all the time.
What's worse is, Shawn Mendes, Katy Perry, Harry Styles, Imagine Dragons, and Ariana Grande are coming to HK this year, and I know none of them well enough to be a hard core fan. Sucks, doesn't it?
If Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift, and Dove Cameron all came here at the same time, I would choose Dove. Forever and always.
But that's not happening is it? The problem with living in Hong Kong is that there's this thing called racism where people look down on you because of your race. It's hard to live with because the truth is, I'd rather be an American than a Chinese, because mainland people are too messed up for their own good.
Okay, anyways.
I think it's ironic, but I'm proud to be a girl from Hong Kong.
Like, in terms of tradition, culture, geography, attitude and stuff. It's just that I don't have blue eyes and blonde hair.
I'm not jealous of American culture. I'm jealous of how an ordinary girl from America or Britain or Russia or France or Germany or whatever place else can look better than the prettiest girl in Hong Kong.
You can say whatever you want. I'm pretty much discriminating myself at this point, but I'm a thirteen year old, and no matter how many "be yourself"s and "you're perfect the way you are"s I see or hear, it's not gonna change the reality-everyone wants to be pretty.
I can claim I don't care, but to be very straight forward, I do. That's the problem with society. People judge each other, and get criticized. However, the truth is, we can't help it. We criticize people for judging us while we do the very same.
Anyways, I've run out of things to rant about, so the next chapter will actually be about Hong Kong, where I live.
