As 11:30 hit, the two guards arrived without their hats, two bags in hand. I looked at them confused as they placed one on each bed. Inside the bags were simple, flowy dresses, with mine being navy blue and Thasia's being cherry pink. I noticed Thasia make a face at the color and I had to suppress a laugh.
"What are these for?" I asked.
The first guard with the accent glared at me. "They're for the lunch of course."
"Who gave us these?" Thasia inquired .
"Countess Gwyneira wanted you to wear something besides a jumpsuit to lunch. She thought these would look lovely on you girls." The other maid sighed dreamily, admiring my navy dress. I made a mental note to let her have it when I was finished with it. I wasn't going to need it after this. I'm sure she could find a use for it.
When we were all dressed up, they picked out makeup styles for us and hairstyles. My hair was pulled into a low, messy bun with natural makeup. Thasia had her hair plaited with pinker lips than normal.
"There. All done." The first guard exclaimed, a shadow of a smile on her face.
"Thank you, Miss..." I trailed off, hoping they would tell me their names.
They looked at each other before the second guard piped up. "I'm Kirsen and that's Cathrise."
"Kirsen!" The guard snapped, playfully hitting her on the shoulder before they started to giggle.
"I'm going to assume your sisters?" Thaisa asked, one eyebrow perking up.
Cathrise raised her eyebrows. "You're very forward, aren't you?"
She nodded. "Yes, yes I am. So are you two sisters or not?" She practically snapped.
I was mildly surprised when Kirsen started laughing again. "Yes, yes we're twins. I'm the younger one though, so that's why Cathrise is always bossing me around."
"Kirsen, we're not supposed to be fraternizing with the contestants!" Cathrise scolded.
"I never get to be open with people. Let me have this moment sister!" She objected.
"We don't mind." I added, hoping to soften the criticism Cathrise was giving her.
"Well, we better get going, or we'll be late to lunch. Believe me, that won't bode well for either of you if you're not there on time." Cathrise advised.
We nodded and allowed them to lead us to the opposite side of the Estate. Kirsen knocked on one of the doors and one of the male guards that escorted Gadget and Ajax in opened the door, looking ever so slightly anxious. He smiled brightly and I could just barely detect a blush. I assumed he had a thing for her.
"We're here for Circuit, Leviye." She exclaimed, a slight waver in her voice. Oh yeah, they were in love.
He nodded. "Of course. He'll be right out. Do you need Gadget as well?"
Cathrise interjected bluntly. "No. He was not invited."
"Oh, I see." His voice became tight and I could feel hostility flare. Leviye shied away and retreated back into the room, shutting the door softly.
Kirsen let out a tiny wince and Cathrise cleared her throat, making her sister look down in embarrassment. I stole a look at Thasia and she raised an eyebrow. I shrugged slightly and she repeated my action.
The door opened again and I could tell this was not the same guard as before, even though he looked like the spitting image of the other one. I smiled when Ajax appeared next to him. "We're ready when you are." The guard nodded sharply.
