I nervously twiddled my thumbs and shifted in my seat anxiously, my stomach was churning uncomfortably and goosebumps speckled my skin in the chilly Lisbon night. It was the night of dreams-and nightmares- for Madridistas worldwide.
Sergio had been a pain to be around since the league had been lost, he felt they had thrown it away, and that paired with the nerves for the champions league final had made him snappy and irritable. For that reason, I really wanted Real to win, not only because they deserved it but I couldn't imagine Sergio's despair if they didn't.
So I sat in Lisbon amongst the chilly air and bated breaths after 90 minutes of play and was on the verge of giving up. People around me were crying already, all hope gone. I hid my head in my hands, it's over, I thought. No La Decima.
Suddenly, the crowd roared around me, causing my head to snap up. I screamed too, they scored?! They Scored!!
I jumped up to see who it was that was running away to celebrate. Sergio? Oh my god. Sergio! I screamed my heart out as I almost burst with pride and arms were pulling me into hugs and screaming along side me.
It was the best night of my life, and the next half an hour was the happiest. The score line didn't reflect the closeness of the game, but it didn't matter. They won, they did it, they got La Decima!
The medals were given out and Iker lifted the trophy, the screams and shouts never ceased around us. We were on the pitch then, me and the other girls and children as the players made their way back down the steps to the pitch.
It was frantic and I searched for Sergio amongst the white shirts and white confetti that was slowly tangling with my hair. Suddenly, two arms wrapped around my waist and lifted me up.
"Sergio!" I laughed and he put me down, turning me to face him.
"I won the champion's league!" he shouted over the noise, and the slight smell of beer on his breath was evident.
"You did!" I laughed again "and you're drunk!"
He ignored my comment. "La Decima is here. Isn't that unbelievable!" He took the medal from around his neck and placed it around mine, lifting my hair from under the ribbon and placing a sloppy, drunk kiss on my cheek. "And that header! Did you see?"
I nodded, "yeah Sergio you did it" I ducked my head slightly, hyper aware of the champagne that was flying everywhere.
"And then Gareth and Cris scored, even Marcelo!" He drunkenly rambled on as teammates passed and swatted him on the back in congratulations.
Before long we were on the plane home to Madrid, which was eventful to say the least, every single player was drunk and celebrating hard, as they should.
Lots of the girls were tipsy, but on the whole keeping a close eye on the boisterous boys, who were acting like teenagers passing around the trophy like a joint. Sergio & I had our picture taken with it and then it moved on. Sergio was rowdy to say the least, acting as party host sorting out drinks and selecting the music and leading a drunken Conga line through the aisles.
Before I knew it we were at Cibeles, and it was really late but the adrenaline pumping in my blood made it impossible to be tired. Once again I was a spectator, watching with the rest of the crowd as the players were celebrated and cheered until voices were hoarse.
Drunken speeches were given, thanks given out and bad singing all around. It was hilarious, and at this point I was pretty drunk myself and wanting Sergio to be near so that I could lean on him and take off my high heels.
A few hours later Sergio asked if I wanted to go home instead of to Alvaro's house to continue to celebrations, whether I wanted to or not we would go, because it was Sergio's night and I wouldn't deny him anything.
Drinks were once again flowing, champagne and beer again the drinks of choice. People were getting tired now, those looking after children were long gone, most had had their children collected by nannies or grandparents and were still partying. Some, like Angel, was already passed out on Alvaro's, a sign of his hard work and man of the match performance.
As the hours passed the celebrations became more mellow, the music was turned down and the drinking slowed. The dancing and chanting was replaced with chaste kisses and sweet nothings of couples dotted around the room.
Strangely Sergio had sobered up a little as the hours passed, I think the reality of what he had achieved was just sinking in.
"Baby, come here" Sergio pulled me into his lap suddenly, causing me to laugh and cling onto his shoulders to stop me from falling.
"What a night" He laughed, the joy shining in his eyes brightly.
"The best night ever" I agreed. I placed one hand on his stubbled cheek, which he leaned into immediately, his eyes drooping closed for a split second. "You're exhausted, aren't you?"
He just nodded "But I won't be able to sleep tonight anyway." His fingers were stroking the small strip of exposed skin at my waist, sending shocks of current through my tired body.
"Me either" It was true, I felt like I wouldn't sleep for another decade.
"That's lucky" He whispered seductively, a smirk forming on his face.
He lovingly placed both hands on either side of my face, lowering his face to mine.
"This is a dream come true. I'm glad you're here with me" He whispered against my lips, causing shiver to pass down my spine. "Olivia, I love you."
Here's the next chapter :) Comment if you want them to be longer, I'm worried they're too short, Eva x
