I AM AN ANIMAL

PROLOGUE

                "Take a left, man. I'll walk from here," said the figure in the passenger seat of a Chevy Impala 2012, peering out of the darkened windows with curiosity. The driver did as commanded, putting the machine into park.

"You sure you know where to go from here? S'been a long time since you've been in this neck of the woods," he drawled, looking the passenger up and down with concern, which was met with a roll of eyes and a scoff.

"It may have been five years since I left Beacon Hills, but I still remember the place like the back of my hand. Of course I remember where my old place is dumbass," she growled. The driver chuckled silently to himself.

"I sure am gonna miss your sass, girlie. Even though it does make me wanna slug you sometimes."

"Please, you'd never even get the chance; I'd have you on the floor before you make your first move," the passenger said with a twinkle in her eye as she looked at the man next to her with a playful yet affectionate smirk. The man lifted an eyebrow doubtfully,

"Any of the other goons back home, sure. But don't you forget who taught you how to look after yourself when you came to us after your daddy kicked you out," he said with a stern look on his face. All traces of playfulness was gone from the girls expression, replaced with a solemn, hardened look.

"I know. I swear Jeff, I won't ever be able to repay you, all of you, for what you've done for me. I can't even begin to imagine what would've happened..." she went silent, leaving words unspoken but not unknown. Jeff reached across and gripped her arm, giving it a gentle squeeze.

"I know sweetheart. You know we wouldn't have had it any other way. You ain't 'like' family, you are family. Never forget that. If things go south here for you, always remember we'd open you back with open arms." The girls eyes glistened for a moment with heartfelt tears before she blinked, as if to erase the momentary sign of weakness. She placed her hand on top of the one that held her arm for a few seconds before brushing it off to reach into the back seat to grab her large, beaten up rucksack. She took a breath to collect herself.

"So, I guess this is it then."

"Not forever, sweetheart. I'm sure one of the boys will end up wandering into your path to see how much chaos you create." Jeff said, the same playful smirk stretched across his age-wizened face.

"Make sure they call ahead, don't want 'em giving the locals a heart attack when they come roarin' into town on their bikes," warned the girl as she reached across to warmly hug the man she saw as her father. She felt the vibrations of his laugh in his chest as they embraced. With a pat on the back, they parted and the girl ducked out of the car. She turned as she slammed the door, sighing as she stepped into the dark Californian evening.

"Hey, Gracie!" Jeff called through the open window. Grace turned back, eying the man with interest. He grinned, and with a wink hollered in his smooth southern accent she had become accustomed to so well,

"Give 'em hell."

rightio, so this is my first proper crack at writing a fanfiction, for the past few months I have been completely OBSESSED with Teen Wolf fanfiction, namely Stiles Stilinski fanfiction (i just can't get enough of that stuttering dweeb) so I thought I would throw my lot in! I've been planning this story for a while now, and have notes for the first few chapters but haven't actually gotten round to writing them yet, so you'll have to be patient with me. However, I have no more exams left and three weeks off school, so hopefully I'll be able to update fairly regularly! This is just a little intro to the story and to give a bit of background to the main character without giving too much away;) I haven't found a Stiles story written like mine as of yet, so hopefully this will be something fresh for you all! Anyway, thanks for reading, please do all the things you lovely people on wattpad do, and hopefully I should have the next chapter up by the end of the night!!
