Selena’s POV

“-here is the deepest secret nobody knows, here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide, and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart  i carry your heart, i carry it in my heart. E.E Cummings”

I read aloud as the wind blew my loose hair in front of me covering the pages. “Love you daddy” I whispered closing the book and tucking the strands behind my ear. I sat with my legs hung over the side of the lighthouse with my arms hanging onto railings like I had sat many times before. I looked down and over the ocean that rocked back and forth as the tides swept up to shore knocking into a few people that looked like ants from my position. I stayed for another minute before pulling myself up, I tucked my book of poems into my bag and walked down the long flight of stairs to the ground. I leaped onto my bike and road it down the long gravely path to the beach, it was almost a 30 minute ride even though from the top of the light house it seems to be seconds away. Not many people visited the lighthouse because it was pretty much out in the middle of nowhere but I knew my shortcuts. The beach was extra packed today for some reason, I came to a stop and locked my bike in position with the others. I started to walk on the beach immediately sinking down and letting the cold grainy sand accumulate in between my toes. I kicked off my white flipflops and stuffed them into my bag. It was a normal sunny day in Los Angeles except for the wild wind that blew everything around, I pulled one of the rubber bands off my wrist and pulled my hair back into a bun letting a few stands fall free. Once I found a spot I unbuttoned my shorts since I had bikini bottoms on under and laid out on a small blanket I had stowed away in my bag letting the warm sun soak into my skin as I started reading the poems I have already memorized.

Justin’s POV

“There aren’t beaches like this back in Stratford” My dad exclaimed as he, Ryan, Alfredo, and I made our way out of the large white van.

“I can’t believe what we’ve been missin out on” Ryan laughed as we started walking down the beach. People started to gawk the further we got down, when we finally found a free spot we sat down and started talking to each other.

“How about a competition with your ol’ dad?” He asked pulling off his shirt and tossing it to the ground.

“What do you have in mind?”

“Push ups” He said falling forward landing on his arms, I used to be so envious of my dad’s martial arts fiesque. It wasn’t until I turned 16 that I started catching up, and now that I’m 18 there’s really no comparison. I fell next to him as we started competing. -1,2,3,4,5,6,-19,20,21,22-34,35,36,37,38- I counted in my head. I turned slightly and saw my dad’s arms start to give under him, I let out a small laugh under my breath and continued.

“Oh my gosh, is that really Justin Bieber?” I heard a few girls whisper behind me. I rolled my eyes and let out a sigh before falling on my chest as I delivered my last strong push up. “46” I said out loud rubbing my hands together getting ride of all the sand particles. As we laid there Ryan and Alfredo watched all the girls slowly walk past us looking back ever so often trading giggles.

“Damn she’s fine” Ryan muttered under his breath as a few more girls skipped past us. I laid my head back down as my dad went on about how I should start boxing and get more into martial arts like he was. It was always the same thing with my dad so I tend to just tune him out once he started. I squinted my eyes and sat up pushing some sand through my hands.

“I’m gonna take a walk” I sighed interrupting my dad. He nodded his head and laid back, I felt bad that I was leaving the three of them alone since this was Ryan and my dad’s last day in La but I just wanted to be by myself for a bit. I walked past everyone that was staring and quietly calling out my name, I kept my focus on the hill that was a few hundred feet ahead of me which wasn’t a very good idea. The next thing I knew I was falling about to land on some girl laying down with a book hovered over her face.

“What the hell!” She shouted pushing me off of her.

“I’m so sorry” I quickly sat up as my cheeks flushed from embarrassment. People started to crowd around us taking pictures with their phones and iPods. I couldn’t believe how disrespectful some people where. I looked back towards the girl as she  brushed sand off her face and flat stomach. When she finished she turning to looked at me, and the moment her eyes hit mine I was mesmerized. They were dark brown with a hit of green, I probably looked like a staring fool but I couldn’t stop. She had smooth sunkissed skin, and long brown hair tied into a loose bun. She was very petite so I’m sure when I landed on her it must have hurt a bit.  She gave me a scared look as the people started to close in on us with their camera’s, she pulled the book up trying to cover her face as her cheeks turned bright pink. I felt so bad, I knew I had to do something to get her out of the frenzy of people.
