"Dude!" Scott's voice barely carried to all the group members over the waves of the ocean, yet he still managed to scream, "These houses are crazy huge!"

"Which one should we check out first?" Cry asked, leaning towards me.

"Right to left?" I asked, glancing at Cry before returning my gaze to the perfectly straight, blue horizon.

"We're all staying in the same one, right?" Russ asked, keeping his voice high above the crashing ocean.

Cry nodded as we all started walking towards the first mansion. "Yeah, it should be safer for us."

I was the first to reach the front door, I set my hand on the knob and twisted it, "It's locked."

"Shit, should we kick it?" He asked.

"Don't want to ruin the door."

Cry frowned, "Let's try smashing a window?"

"I call it!" Scott heard and ran to the other side of the house. We all stood in silence, most likely basking in the warm and salty air, waiting a mere five minutes before the door in front of us clicked and opened to reveal a smiling Jund.

"Dude, this place is awesome!" He said upon making eye contact.

I giggled like a little kid, feeling the excitement that had contaminated the rest of the group. "Let us in, Jund!"

Scott moved aside and we all piled into what could be our next potential house.

The first room you walked into was a foyer, it was decorated with a huge chandelier and plants of all kinds, obviously fake, considering any real plants would have died. Moving forward, it opened into a huge kitchen and living room hybrid. On one side was the kitchen with tiled floors and an island while the other side held a huge tv with three different couches.

"This place is huge!" Russ exclaimed, his statement echoed off the walls, just reinforcing what he said. The others conversed about rearranging the furniture to what suits them while I wondered off, intent on exploring.

There was a deck that sprouted out the back side of the house which ran all the way to the edge of the beach. I decided to go outside later and moved on to a small bathroom that was attached to the entrance hall. I flicked on the light, no such luck, so I pushed the door open to let more light in. It was small, a toilet and a sink. I set my hand on the handle and flushed the toilet. I immediately jumped back, shocked, when the thing actually flushed! I turned around and twisted one of the sink handles. When I saw water bursting out the faucet, I almost called someone in, but then realized they were all upstairs, checking out the rooms as silence flowed through the lower level. I turned back to the faucet, turning it off and on in pleasure, thinking about having running water, again. I haven't had a shower since we had to leave Autumn. I lost myself for a moment in the sound of running water, dreaming of it cascading down my-

"These old beach homes are attached to underground wells, so they still have access to water." A voice I didn't recognize came from behind me. I turned around, wide eyed and pulse racing, grabbing my gun and pointing it at the stranger in front of me. He was tall, much taller than me, with shaggy blonde hair, and an accent I couldn't quite place.

"Who the fuck are you?" I asked, while taking a step back, my back hitting the glossy sink that was still running.

"You know, I should really be the one asking that question. This is my home, after all." He said with a smile and a shrug, leaning on the door way.
