First Day

Note: this book is Caribbean based since I'm from the Dominica. Some words may seem alien to you all but I'll translate them in a footnote.. 😛 thnx......................

    "Some people just don't know when to shut up, literally. Ashley was telling some new kid off. I knew she didn't even know the girl since she just transferred here. Can a girl really be that jealous?"
I thought to myself as I watched on.
Should I do something? Everyone was staring and no one was stopping them. The new girl seemed taken aback and on the verge of crying. We had no teacher this period so Ashley took full advantage of bullying the poor girl.
I wasn't a big fan of bullying.
I sighed and took a step forward.

" Look, uhm.. Ashley, I don't think u should be bothering the girl, she haven't done you anything."

Ashley scowled.

"Gizelle. You have no idea what you saying. *Mamzel is not who you think she is. She going an spoil our school. She going and spoil you."

"Doesn't matter, leave her spoil me, and I will report you to our principal if you don't back off."

With that, she walked away. Everyone went back to their seats to do what they were doing before the girl stepped in and Ashley stopped her.
The girl was rather pretty; with light brown eyes, curly hair and smooth skin. What we'd refer to as a *shabin.

"Hey what's your name? I'm sorry for your first impression in our class being a bad one. I'm the class prefect by the way. My name's Gizelle Montano. I'm from Portsmouth."

"I'm Amandine,"
came a short reply.

"OK Amandine. You may sit next to me. I'll guide you to your classes this week."
"Thanks," she almost whispered.
Great, I thought.. Ashley's wrecked her poor soul.

I know this is really short but its my first time and new ideas are just popping in . I'll make the next one longer.
*mamzel : referred to girls or young women, when you're angry at them. Some say it means fish but I'll research it..
*shabin: a fair skin girl or woman .. Usually albino . the male population is referred to as shabeh.
