The Red Ruby

Tracy's POV

It's been about 4 weeks since me and Dan started dating, and I loved every single moment of it. I go on his Instagram and tap on his newest post, and quickly like it when I see the picture of him from the photo shoot he just went to. Damn he's fine. (Y'all agree right? Like when I saw that pic i screamed) I comment on it "Damnnn 😱" his fanbase is mostly kids but whatever. I look up as Dan comes down the stairs from his office. "Hey, babe." He says. "Hi." I simply say and he pecks my temple. I quickly bring up the picture from his Instagram and say "You realize how hot you are, right?" And show him the picture on the screen. He laughs and says "Thanks, Trace." I sit back down on the sofa and continue scrolling through feeds on my social media's. "So I'm a little worried.." Dan says while in the kitchen making tea. "Why's that?" I ask. "Well, it's because last night while I was editing I got a text message and it said something like 'We will find you' and 'We know where you are'." "Could be a prank." I say, still looking at my phone screen. Dan eventually gives me the tea he made and he sits down next to me, and drinks some of his, and he puts his arm around me. I go to the home screen of my phone and what notification I got almost made me drop my tea. I press the text notification and it was an unknown number and it said "I know where you are, and I will find you.." Its like the text Dan got! I text back saying, "Who ever you are, stop texting me and my boyfriend, and leave us alone." It wasn't until about 3 minutes later when I got a response. "No. I need that ruby. The one you're wearing now." I quietly gasp and hold the ruby around my neck tightly. "What the hell?! This is the necklace my mum gave me!" And press send. I quickly get a text back. "Yes, but it's also ours. We will come to take it back, and if you will not let us, we will take it back the hard way." I text back. "What do you mean the hard way?" "You will see." I feel my heart start to race. I quickly set my phone down, my heart still beating fast, and say nothing. "You okay?" Dan asks, looking down at me. "Y-yeah.." I say, looking down. "Okay, you just seemed a little off. Please talk to me if you need me because I'll always be here for you." "Okay." I say, nodding.

Bedtime

I walk into the bathroom and brush my teeth and put my hair in a French braid. I put on my p.j.'s. The texts I was getting have been running through my mind all day, and it terrifies me. I take off my necklace and sit down on the bed, looking at it with my hand still holding it tightly. Dan comes from out of the bathroom shirtless, wearing his p.j. bottoms and sits down on the bed next to me. "Trace, there's definitely something wrong. I can see it in your eyes. Please tell me." I let out a shaky sigh. "Go get my phone, go to messages, and press on the latest one. I'm truly terrified." "Oh, okay." Dan says, already sounding worried. He grabs my phone and looks at the latest messages. His eyes scan over the screen and he almost drops the phone as his face goes from normal, to absolutely terrified. He sets the phone down and realised I was crying. Dan comes closer to and hugs me and doesn't let go. I wrap my arms around him and cry into his shoulder. He releases me slightly. "It's okay, Tracy. I'm here, I'll protect you. Hell, I'll even fight for you. I love you so much." He says in a quiet and comforting voice, and kisses my forehead. I look up and see he's crying too. "Oh, Dan." I say and hug him tightly. "It's okay, I just can't stand to see you like this, and I don't want to lose you." We embrace each other for another moment, until my phone dings, indicating I got another text message, and of course it's from the unknown number. "12:34AM." It said, and Dan scans the screen over my shoulder. I text back saying "What do you mean?" And no response. It's 11:30 right now. "Oh no. Something bad is gonna happen at that time, what they come in our house, and hurt you, and the pugs? What if-?" I get cut off by Dan and he says "Sh, it's okay. If they come in at that time, we can prepare." I nod. First, we make sure all doors and windows in the house are sealed and locked, and shades completely closed. We then put on outdoor gear, just in case if they try to get in, we can escape out the back. We then get all the weapons we can find, and put them together and load the guns with ammo. We make sure the knives are sharp by sharpening them, so that it breaks skin to the touch. We then get food, water, a tent, blankets, pillows, our phones and chargers just in case we have to sleep outside overnight which would suck, even in the car because it's small. Dan makes sure he has the keys so we can drive away. He goes outside and loads the car and drives it right next to the back door. He quickly comes in. "What's the time?" I take out my phone and gasp and go wide-eyed. "It's 12 fucking 31!" I say, panicked. I see Dan's face almost immediately go panicked as well. I get a text message and press on it, Dan watching over my shoulder. "We're on our way to take back what's ours." I don't text back, I just shove the phone in my pocket, and hold the ruby tightly in my hands. I take the necklace off, and we both walk outside to the car and I shove the necklace deep in my suitcase next to Dan's in the trunk. "Wait!" I say turning to Dan. "What?" Dan responds. "What about Ellie and Darcie?! Quick we need to get them!" "Right!" Dan says and we rush in the house and pick them both up and set them in the car. We can't live without those pugs. We jump in the car, Dan in the drivers seat. We intertwine our hands, hoping we won't die. I take out my phone. "12:34." I sigh. "I love you with all my heart, so please don't get hurt." I say. "I will try not to, I love you too." Dan says. We then see a black car pull in our drive way. "Shit!" Dan yells. He immediately starts the car and we drive quickly on the yard, and over the neighbours yard, I scream and cover my eyes as he runs over a fence and a garbage bin, and pulls out on the road and we drive away onto the highway. (Any of your guys' hearts beating so hard? Or am I the only one like holy fu-) we both calm down as we drive on the highway at a normal speed. "We got away, Trace. It's okay." Dan says, focussed on the road. I nod, and look back at the pugs and pet them and say "It's okay, guys. We're fine." And turn back. I look into the mirror outside of the car and see the same black car pull out and speed towards us. "DAN! GO FASTER, THEY FOUND US!" I yell. Dan immediately slams on the gas and pasts any other drivers on the highway, even if it was dangerous, it's worth our lives.
