Chapter 5

I woke up in the morning and decided to go to the garden and hear the birds chirping, sit by the lake getting lost in my thoughts and feel the cool breeze.

The court ladies helped me get dressed up. I didn't understand why women had to wear so many layers of clothing. Getting dressed in a simple manner would have been fine. But unfortunately, I couldn't change it. Sometimes I feel like I don't even belong here.

"Do you want me to serve you breakfast, Lady Jiyeon?" asked the court lady.

"Ani. I'll be back in a while and then have it. You can leave now," I said and she left.

I was on my way to go to the garden when I spotted Jongin in the palace hall. He gave me a wide beautiful smile as soon as he saw me. I stopped right in my track. How looks great when he smiles. Not that he doesn't look good normally but he can light up the whole town with his smile. He looks  happy today.

"Good morning, Jiyeon-ah," he greeted me.

"Good morning," I greeted back. "Someone seems very happy today."

"Nae. I have no reason to be unhappy after what happened yesterday," he said and smiled again.

Oh!! That smile is going to kill me. He's so handsome!!

"Me too. I'm glad we cleared our misunderstandings," I said and smiled back.

"That's why I can be more happier with you by my side. You'll be there, right?" he asked me and smiled again.

Oh!! He smiled again. He's making me speechless. How can he smile so beautifully? I can't believe this handsome man with this amazing smile is my best friend.

"Jiyeon-ah? What happened? You didn't answer me."

'I was so lost in your beautiful smile that I couldn't answer' I wanted to say but didn't. Instead I looked at him with a blank face, trying to search for an answer in my head. I was getting lost again as I looked at his beautiful face.

"You'll be by my side. Won't you?" he asked me again.

"Ah!! Nae!! Nae!! Nae!!" I squeaked as I suddenly came to my senses.

"Hahahahaha..... Why do you sound like a mouse? It's so funny," he said as he laughed out loud.

I flushed and laughed along with him.

"Ah!! Jiyeon-ah!!" he exclaimed once he calmed down.

I really need to get a grip on myself. He's my best friend. I can't do this. Maybe not seeing for a long time is making me feel this way. I think it'll be fine since I'm living in the palace now and would be seeing his handsome face often. 'I'll get used to it' I assured myself.

"Jiyeon-ah, did you have your breakfast?" he asked me.

"Ani. I was going to the garden and thought I'd have it later," I replied.

"Ya!! When will you have it? You'll go to the garden, sit there and get lost in your thoughts. You won't even have the track of time. Go and have your breakfast now," he ordered me with a cross between his brows.

"Ani. I'll be back soon. I really want to hear the birds chirp and sit there for a while," I replied.

"I know that wouldn't happen. Please go and have your breakfast now, Jiyeon-ah. You can go to the garden after you're done eating," he said and I knew he was serious this time.

I turned around and walked towards my room with a long face. He knew me so well. He was my best friend after all.
