The air was moist, the fog so thick one could just barely see four feet ahead of them. Her breathing was heavy and uneven as she ran; ran from him. She immediately froze when a bullet whipped past the trees.
Quickly gathering her thoughts, she raced to the nearest tree and climbed as far up as she could. Her breath hiched as stern footsteps were heard beneath her. "Come out, come out wherever you are." His voice rang through the silent night, "I can play this game all night, Bambi. You can't hide forever."
Her hand clamped over her mouth, quieting her low sobs. She was beginning to lose hope; doubting the chances of her ever escaping. "Oh sweetie, you just don't know when to give up. Do you?" Dylan chuckled heartlessly.
Thunder boomed and a downpour of rain began to drench the two. Lightening flashed across the midnight sky causing Bambi to whimper in fear. Dylan slowly looked up, an evil smirk plastered along his features; one Bambi knew too well. "Come down, Bambi. There is nowhere to go now."
Bambi let out a shaky sigh as she slowly made her way down. Dylan grabbed Bambi's arm and dragged her effortlessly back to the cabin.
Once inside, he tossed her to the ground. "You are going to pay. I hope you learn your lesson, now get up!" Bambi shook her head.
"Jesus Bambi!" Dylan shouted smashing a glass against the wall. "I told you to get up!" Bambi shakily got up, tears staining her cheecks. Dylan grasped her arm and pushed her towards the basement.
Once they reached the bottom, Dylan immediately threw Bambi into a cage and headed back to the living room. "Goodnight darling. Don't let the darkness get you." With that, the room fell silent.
* * * * *
"Bambi," Dylan whispered. "It's time to wake up. We're going out." Bambi calmly followed Dylan up the stairs.
"You have 15 minutes, meet me in the truck when you're done." After freshening up, Bambi did as told and went out to the car.
"Where are we going?" she asked, breaking the silence.
"Hunting."
"Hunting!? Why hunting?"
"Because, I can't always just 'go shopping', I would get arrested or something." Bambi remained silent. He was right, with all his crimes, anyone would recognize him.
"We're here." Dylan chimed as he got out to open Bambi's door. "Come." He commanded, pulling Bambi to the nearest tree and tying her to it.
"What are you doing!?" Bambi croaked as Dylan backed away and raised the gun towards her.
"Have you ever heard of the game where someone places an apple on the others head and tries to shoot it?" Bambi didn't reply. Dylan let out a chuckle, "We're going to play that game... with a bird."
Suddenly, a horrid screech through her ears and blood trickled down Bambi's face. "You h-heartless monster, how could you?" Bambi shouted. Dylan just laughed at her reaction, but those laughs soon faded as sirens rang in the distance.
Dylan hesitantly ran to Bambi and began to untie the rope. "STEP AWAY FROM THE GIRL." FBI agents and detectives surrounded the two. Dylan slowly backed away but turned, grabbing ahold of one of the agents and pointed a gun to his head. "Let the man go, Dy-" It was too late, the man colapsed to the ground, blood oozing it's way out.
Bambi was quickly tugged away when guns began to fire rapidly through the woods. A smile grew on her face once the last bullet was fired; silence falling upon everyone.
Bambi
He's gone, he is actually gone.
I felt as if all my worries were lifted from my hands as I watched the life drain away from Dylan's body. I can finally go home without someone watching my every move. I can see Mum and Dad again. Lay in a comforting bed, read books, drink tea, take showers, do everything without feeling like someone's watching me; waiting to take away everything I love. I'm free. You're not free you bimbo, you'll never be free. He'll get you one way or another
"No!" I told myself. "He's dead, I'm sure of it. I saw it." As I lay in bed, my eyes begin to grow heavy and soon enough, I found myself drifting into my own little world.
He smiled as he laid there in his own blood; "I'll be back darling. Just you wait." He whispered as police force carried him away. The smile never left his features.
My eyes shot open. There's no way. He's dead, I saw him dying. Get ahold of yourself, Bambi. Everything will be alrig-
"Bambi!" my mother screamed. I immediately rushed downstairs.
"What's wr-" I couldn't believe my eyes. There lies my father, throat slit in the middle of the kitchen. What in bloody hell happened? I finally find some piece in mind and suddenly my father is murdered. As I watched my mum break down in tears beside my lifeless dad, I noticed a small folded paper on the ground beside him.
'Our love is forever my darling... dead or alive.' ~ D.
"Dylan." I whispered to myself. He was alive, this couldn't be from anyone else... could it? I quickly ran for the door. There is only one way to solve this mess because if he's not in the grave, who is?
I slammed the car door shut and raced to Dylan's grave, grabbing a shovel from the trunk. I began digging and digging. The rain was making the situation worse, but that didn't stop me. After about three hours of digging, I finally hit something.
I wiped the remaining mud off the top of the coffin and used the shovel to pry it open. "No," I breathed out, "no, no, NO! This can't be happening. It's impossible, she was just at home." First my dad, now mum. My knees grew weak and I colapsed next to my lifeless mother. "Why!? Why me!?" I yelled at the sky like it was going to answer me.
Suddenly anger washed over me. "Well played, Dylan." I chuckled, "But if I can't have my family, you can't have me."
The drive back was quick. I grabbed the spare ropes from the garage and rushed back into the living room. After adjusting everything, I slowly pulled the loop over my head. Tears slowly fell from my eyes, "Goodbye." I kicked the chair from beneath my feet.
I felt a tingling pleasure rush over me as I listened to my heartbeat slow down. "Are you crazy?!" A blurry figure bypassed before everything went numb.
"Darling!?" I heard a faint voice call, "Bambi darling, wake up." it sounded so familiar, but I couldn't figure out who it belonged to. I let my eyes flutter open only to wish I hadn't done so.
"Dylan!?"
" Welcome home sweet heart." A sick smile spread across his dark features, "I've missed you."
